The kitchen is full of last minute favorites. The Mary Rose. The Maruebened. The Port Modena. El Conquistador. Gluten Free Clam Chowder. The Port Genoa. The Port Banes. The Prince Edward Island. The Pig Island. The Port Margherita. The Port Modena. The Victoria. The Port Astoria. The Capricia.... Oh my gosh.... It's so overwhelming.

I've been agonizing over this post for a long time but I know I need to share. It's a bittersweet moment and I want to both  celebrate and mourn with you, my Chipwrecked family. Here we go…. At the end of the month, I will be handing the keys and vision of Chipwrecked over to a new family. 😢 

For 10 years, my little family has grown along with each of yours. My daughter could barely reach the sink when we fried our first chip. This fall she heads into her junior year of college at UCSB. The years have truly flown by. Through those years I've been touched by the support each of you have offered my family, and I have been honored to have shared in so many of your families' big events too. Weddings, showers, birthdays, first dates, last dates. It's hard for me to imagine not being there to see and share the next big moments with each of you. But it is time. 

10 years is a long time to work the hours and days I've worked. I've loved the memories I've shared with you all but I've also mourned the events I've missed as a small business owner. It's hard work running a business by yourself. I have spent nearly every day of the last 10 years working for Chipwrecked. Even when the shop was closed, I was working. Planning, shopping, bookkeeping, cleaning, worrying. Lots of worrying. The last couple years amplified that stress and magnified the important parts of life I was missing out on. I'm ready to work a little less and play a lot more. 

With that spirit of celebration, I want to enjoy my last couple weeks with you. I'm going to pull out all the stops the next two weekends (yep we are only open on the weekend). I want to cook and eat all the favorite flavors through the years. I want to rejoice in ten fun years before I "retire" to a quiet life of office work and empty nesting. And hey, might as well have a last hurrah to bank a little more in that college fund. 😉.... More in the comments.
