On Sunday, October 4th at 2:00 oā€™clock, come see our beloved, Batty Sippinā€™ Seminar! šŸ¦‡

An enjoyable presentation led by a loved Pine Mountain local, Jessi Vannatta Ph.D. Jessi is an environmental scientist and a California State Park bat expert! She discovered a passion for bats during graduate school, and has worked closely with them for years! She cannot wait to tell you why bats are so fascinating and important to our mountain!

And, while gaining insight & appreciation for our mosquito eating, upside down sleeping, echo location flying creatures of PMC, sip on a drink from The Perch bar & nibble on something from the kitchen! This is family friendly event! Letā€™s learn & enjoy libations while doing so!

Event is outdoors on the upper deck!

Greetings Loved Ones,

We are so very grateful for each of you, and your love. Every note, gesture, gift, post, act & prayer is so very meaningful to us, every day. When outreaches reach usā€”and they doā€”they fill our souls over the brim.

Forgive us for not writing back or providing more news to everyone more often. We are living in slow motion, lost in shock and leveling with our surreal reality.

Monday will be the 7th week since Luceā€™s life-saving helicopter flight to the hospital. USC is our bubble, schooling with brilliant brains doting on Luce. They have genius plans galore for Luceā€™s heartā€™s healing that we are grappling with, yet before those can be embarked upon, Luceā€™s lungs have a project to do: recover from an uncommon complication that arose from an IV medicine, Amiodarone, that instigated drastic alveoli inflammation. Astonishingly, Luce wakes up cheerfully, is kind all day, funny too, and looks optimistically ahead at night. The man is so strong & brave.

So we hold on.

Keep the prayers coming. Please keep loving The Perch. We achingly miss home.

Dear Ones, Your collective presence has become a constellation of light surrounding us through the darkest and most harrowing experience of our lives. The magnitude of our gratitude for all the loving, supporting, helping, believing & praying for Luce is to the moon. Every kind extension and every expression of love has reached us. We are profoundly, eternally grateful. Please keep loving us.

This last week contained much progress, in many complications, and standstills. We wish we could say ā€œall is well,ā€ for Luceā€™s heart, yet we are not out of the woods. We keep moving forward and hoping ferociously for healing, but metaphorically, we remain in the thicket of the briars as much as we found ourselves on the very first day.

Navigating this medical mystery maze is unfathomably hard. No answers have been unearthed as to why Luceā€™s good heart suddenly gave out, and that does happen in humans from time to time. Weird as it is, we are grateful that brilliant doctors are not pretending to know when they do not know. One said, ā€œthe more we learn about hearts, the more that we do not know is revealed.ā€ The heart of every human is a frontier.

Meanwhile, our days and nights are measured by monitors, machines, beeps & blood. The cardiac ICU is a crisis concert. Luce & I aim each day to be very centered, brave and strong, yet the struggle is a heartfelt war. All we can do is pray for our Luce to come back, fully alive & full of heart.

This week at the Perch. Themed Thursday launches a weekend long Love and Light and positive energy for Luce! A South African inspired series of dishes and cocktails are featured in hopes of harnessing all the healing vibes and sending them straight to our favorite ā€œThe Mountain Chooses Youā€ welcome wagon. Letā€™s enjoy some nourishing grub, fanciful drinks, epic cars, a Perch brunch and farm fresh harvestsā€¦ capping the weekend off with a mountain jam in the garden to top off the barrels of love and energy. Letā€™s remind Luce that we know he is South Africa Strong and canā€™t wait for his chosen home to welcome him back.

Day 11, we hold on. We hold hope, we hold healing, we hold on, and above all we hold Luceā€™s heart in a surrounding of immense LOVE. The above is us, truly holding hands.

Luce has woken up, and is strong spirited! Every moment feels vulnerable, and is, yet we believe a miracle is comprised of all the many mini miracles. One minute at a time.

Forgive us for not writing back or updating as weā€™d love to. Every twenty minutes in the ICU is another all enveloping activity, and Luce is being fully present in his body & I am being fully present for Luce.

Know we are over the moon enamored with gratitude for all the love, light, prayers, kindness, caretaking & generosity. Whether you to write us, provide help to us, give to us, or uplift us in your hearts, everything is all is very meaningful!

Youā€™ve wonderfully knocked the wind out of us, and youā€™re fair weathering us through an entirely unforeseen & unimaginable experience. Our world lost all color, yet we pray not forever.

We are beyond infinitely, eternally grateful. All our love to all of you. šŸ’›
