1st I'd like to thank everyone who truly supported and continue to unconditionally support The Smoke Doctor. When I came to Pinckney i worked as a dishwasher and saved my money to start selling bbq. I created jobs and gave back unconditionally to the community that supported me in anyway I could. It really saddens me to hear all the false accusations and hatred for someone who literally gave their last. I will be back in Pinckney shortly. Again thank you to our real supporters!❤️

We know many are wondering about our Pinckney location. Due to some personal issues and with the closing of Howell we cannot open at this time. We are hoping to have things resolved so we can make a decision on how to move forward. This does not mean we will not open. I know there had been a lot of questions so we just wanted to let people know that we are working on things.

We want to thank our community and customers for all of the support for the last six years.

Karaoke is back tonight at the Smoke Doctor in Howell. We are offering our specials and food is available until we sell out. Great drink specials and a good time. We love the community and would like to see everyone. Yesterday was a great turnout.

We are very sad to announce that we will be closing our Howell doors. The economy is bad, meat prices are skyrocketing and overall costs have increased. With this long, cold, snowy winter sales are down and costs are up.

Please come and see us for our final days and for BBQ done right. Also we are doing trivia tonight so stop in for a beer and games.

This is the absolute truth! 🙏🏾

After looking at my bill this week, I can see exactly why so many folks in the BBQ world are closing their doors.

$8,600 in food cost alone… for a 4-day work week, only being open 3–4 hours a day for lunch. That doesn’t include labor. Doesn’t include overhead. Doesn’t include the hours before sunrise and long after close.

This is a wild time to be in the food service industry—BBQ especially.

We’re in a small town. We only serve lunch. And while it might look like we’re “busy” or “killing it,” the truth is a lot different behind the scenes. Many of us only make money 3–4 hours out of a 24-hour day.

If you’ve ever wondered why pitmasters grind so hard for that Top 50 list…
Why we depend so heavily on travelers stopping through…
Why we show up every day no matter how tired, sore, or beat down we are…
