In the Galician dialect of northwest Spain, "o lar" means "hearth", or "home." The heart of "o lar" is its hand-crafted stone oven whose hearth contributes to the warm and homey atmosphere. At "o lar", our ingredients as well as our oven, are the key to making quality food. We use the finest ingredients from Europe and America, with strong Mediterranean and global flavors. We choose organic, natur

al, and bio-sustainable products whenever possible. We meld old-world, artisanal techniques with modern creativity to produce healthy and hearty foods which are both familiar and adventurous. We welcome you to call to place your order for pick-up and take home.

These are challenging times we find ourselves in. We hope you are all making every attempt to stay safe and healthy. To all of you who have lost friends or loved ones, our hearts and prayers are with you.
As with many businesses, we have had to make adjustments to our familiar routines, and we strive every day to improve our service to you. We now post specials here and on Instagram daily between 1:00 and 2:00 pm. You can call anytime after that to place an order for pickup after 4:00 pm. We know that most people prefer not to wait when picking up, so we make every attempt to have your order ready at your requested time. For the integrity of our food, and your satisfaction, if you know you will be later than planned please call us so we can adjust the cook time for your order. Nothing disappoints us more than preparing food that sits on the counter for 10, 20, 30 minutes waiting to be picked up. Thank you for doing your part to ensure your meal is a good one, after all, we want our food to be enjoyed!

FYI...
Ceviche... many of you love it, just as many have never tried it because it is "raw" seafood. Do not be afraid. In preparing ceviche, fish or seafood is marinated for some time, usually hours, in an acid of some type, such as citrus or vinegar. The acid virtually "cooks" the protein... it is no longer raw! Think of pickles... I prefer mine "half sour" and crispy, nearly raw. To get them this way, they have to be eaten shortly after being submerged in the brine (acid). The longer they stay, the softer and darker they get... they cook in the vinegar. However, if you are still not convinced, or just put off by the concept, enter escabeche. In Spain, Portugal, and Latin America, escabeche is a popular dish of pickled vegetables, either solo or accompanied by a protein. Meat, fish, or seafood is first grilled or seared, then marinated in the olive oil and acid (again, vinegar or citrus) with vegetables and herbs, then eaten cold or at room temperature. VoilĂ , ceviche for the faint of heart (or stomach). Either dish is a delightful way to enjoy fresh quality fish and seafood!
