To our amazing community,
To be completely honest, this is one of the hardest posts I’ve ever had to write. Navigating the line between trying to stay quiet and wanting you—the people who actually care—to know what’s really happening behind the scenes has been an exhausting mental chess match. But you deserve the truth.
Last winter, trying to keep our doors open through the freezing cold took a severe, brutal toll on my body, my health, and my peace of mind. When you are dealing with a heavy, unsustainable burden and conditions that haven't been honored, it teaches you a hard lesson: you can’t pour from an empty cup, and no business is worth sacrificing your health.
Building Tone’s Cones eight years ago was about creating a place that feels like home in the village I was born, raised, and have always loved. Balancing this with my 20-year career serving this community at the diner has made one thing crystal clear: showing up for the people who actually support and care for this town, no matter what—that is what true integrity looks like. I need to step back, protect my peace, and focus on what's real: my health, my family, and my cats.
Here is what our schedule looks like moving forward:
October Hours: We are weather-dependent! Any day it's above 60°, we’ll be open. Under 60°, we will be closed unless we have an event. No more freezing my bones over an empty window.
November Closure: We will be fully closed for the entire month of November (birthday month!) to completely reset and get some much-needed time back with Luke, my mom, and the fur babies.
Winter Model (Dec–Feb): From December through February, we will shift to a weekend-only food model with a much smaller menu than last year. (Come March, our full ice cream menu returns just like always!)
Don't worry, our favorite traditions are still happening:
Customer Appreciation / Dollar Day: Join us to say a massive thank you! Everything we have left is just a $1 as we clear out our remaining inventory for our last day before November.
Halloween Night: We’ve got you covered for free hot dogs and hot cocoa! If it's nice out and not raining, catch us at our normal spot in the village (corner of Locke and Jefferson) with our giant graveyard outside. If it's rainy or super cold (and the Firebarn is open/available), you'll find us right there instead—stay tuned for updates depending on the weather!
We couldn’t be more grateful for the love, loyalty, and understanding you’ve shown us every step of the way. Thank you for riding with us through everything— peace and love - Tone
