October is Italian American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the food, traditions, families and communities that generations of Italian Americans have helped build.

For us, Italian food has always been about more than what’s on the plate. It’s about family, gathering around a table, feeding people well and making sure nobody leaves hungry.

All month long, we’ll be celebrating the food, culture and traditions that make us proud to be part of the Italian American community.

🚨 FOUND: EMMA! 🚨

For those who don’t know, Emma had already been working at Caffe Boa for years when we took over five years ago, and she stuck with us through every single one of those years.

So to say a lot of our customers got to know and love her would be an understatement.

But two months ago, it came time for Emma to go do the other thing she was clearly put on this earth to do: help shape the next generation through teaching. ❤️

Luckily for us, teachers get Fall Break. 😏

So for a very limited time, Emma is BACK doing what she does best around here: putting smiles on faces and taking care of the Boa family.

You can catch her Wednesday and Thursday this week, then Monday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Stop in and say hi while you can. Maybe order a Lemon Drop Martini and a Meatball while you’re here. 🍸🇮🇹

We couldn’t be happier to have this brief reunion with someone who has been such a big part of Caffe Boa for so many years.

A message from one of our owners, Patrick:
I joke all the time I quit my 9 to 5 and traded it in for a 24/7.
There's some truth to it.
When you own a small business, if someone calls out and nobody can cover, you're up. Something breaks, it's your problem. Something needs to get done, you do it.
That's part of the deal. I'm not complaining. I chose it.
But there's another side of the deal I probably don't appreciate enough.
Friday I got to spend part of my day volunteering at Charlotte's school as a WATCH D.O.G.S. dad.
I didn't have to ask anyone for the day off. Nobody checked how many PTO hours I had left. I didn't need anyone's permission to decide where I needed to be.
This is the “take” in the give and take.
And if someday the restaurant needs me at the same time she does, I have another luxury I never had at a 9 to 5: I can put a “Closed Early” sign on the door.
Will it cost us some money? Yep. But one thing I've learned about owning a neighborhood restaurant in Ahwatukee is how much grace this community gives its small businesses. If life happens, you understand. And hopefully we get to take care of you another night.
That's a pretty incredible trade.
I didn't trade a 9 to 5 for a 24/7 so I could work every waking hour. I did it so when something matters more than work, I get to decide what matters more.
And when it comes to her, I'm going to be present.
I don't “have to.”
I get to.

We’re a locally owned and operated Italian scratch kitchen that’s been part of the Ahwatukee community for more than 30 years. We’re busy, we have an incredible base of regulars, and we take a lot of pride in great food, great drinks and even better hospitality.

We’re celebrating Arizona Restaurant Week! Sort of.
We’d love to participate in the official Arizona Restaurant Week, but nonmember restaurants pay $600 per event, plus provide two $50 gift cards, before their Restaurant Week listing/menu is posted.

As a small, locally owned restaurant, that’s not in our budget right now.

But we didn’t want to miss out on the fun, so we put together our very own Caffe Boa Unofficial Restaurant Week menu!
