It’s time to raise a final toast to The McMillan, a space that has held more than cocktails and conversations; it has held a piece of Flagstaff’s soul.
Housed in the historic Bank Hotel building, built in 1886, The McMillan has always been more than a bar. Once home to a Wells Fargo station downstairs and a hotel for Route 66 travelers upstairs, the building has lived many lives. We’ve worked hard to preserve its historic bones—its brick, beams, and irreplaceable character—honoring the stories etched into every inch. Today, it remains the oldest standing building in downtown Flagstaff, and that legacy will continue.
Our last full day of business as The McMillan will be Thursday, 12/11, as we prepare for a new chapter within these storied walls. On Monday, the space begins its next life as Alpine Pizza, a return of a true Flagstaff classic. First opened in 1973, Alpine became a downtown staple for locals, NAU students, and Route 66 wanderers. Now, we’re bringing Alpine back home, expanding into this iconic space while keeping everything you loved: classic pies, garlic knots, pizza fries, wings, smashburgers, crisp salads, hot slices, and nostalgia baked into every corner. And don’t worry, your favorite McMillan cocktails and many of the familiar team members you know and love will be right there at Alpine, ready to welcome you back.
While we say goodbye to The McMillan, its history stays rooted in these preserved walls—and so do the memories made within them. Thank you for being part of its story. We can’t wait to greet you as Alpine Pizza and start the next chapter together.
