If you are thinking about registering with the state, start now rather than in November.
The official processing window is 4 to 6 weeks. ADHS says most people hear back within two. Either way, that is not a same week thing, and holiday tamale season is closer than it looks.
One sequencing tip that trips people up: get your food handler card BEFORE you apply. The application will not process without the certificate uploaded, so applying first and taking the course after just puts you at the back of the line twice.
Registering is free. The card runs ten to fifteen dollars and lasts three years.
