"Pugging" is the process of recycling throwaway, dried, or leftover clay scraps. We collect all the trimmings and unused clay, mix them with water to reclaim the right moisture level, and run the mixture through a specialized machine called a pugmill. The pugmill de-Aires and decompresses the clay, squeezing out all the air bubbles and churning out perfectly uniform, ready-to-use clay logs.
At Pip Coffee + Clay, zero clay goes to waste. Every scrap gets reclaimed, pugged, and prepped so it can end up back on the wheel for the next mug, bowl, or plant buddy! 🪴☕
