HURRICANE UPDATE & COMMUNITY OUTREACH — FYND RIDESHARE & TAXI SERVICE

First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone across Pensacola, Escambia County, and our surrounding communities who has been affected by the hurricane.

We know storms like this can turn people’s lives upside down in a matter of hours. Some families may be dealing with property damage, flooding, power outages, or uncertainty about what comes next.

We want our community to know that FYND is here for you.

My wife and I are incredibly thankful to report that we are safe, our vehicles are safe, and FYND plans to resume transportation services as usual on Sunday, including our already scheduled reservations, provided road conditions remain safe.

But this post isn’t just about transportation.

IT’S ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY.

Something we have always wanted people to understand about FYND is that we aren’t some out-of-state corporation operating in Pensacola.

WE LIVE HERE. WE WORK HERE. WE SHOP HERE. WE DRIVE HERE.

The same roads you drive are the roads we drive. The same grocery stores you shop at are the ones we shop at. The businesses you support are the same businesses we support.

When something happens to Pensacola, it affects us too.

We are local through and through, and this community is our home.

That’s why we’re opening up a community outreach effort for anyone who may need assistance following the hurricane.

NEED HELP? PLEASE REACH OUT!

Text FYND at 850-332-3415

Whether you’re struggling to get essential supplies, need help finding resources, or are dealing with another storm-related hardship, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We cannot promise that we’ll be able to fulfill every request, but we would be more than happy to listen, see what resources we have available, and do whatever we reasonably can to help.

Even if we cannot personally assist, we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.

This is NOT about making money. This is about neighbors helping neighbors.

FYND has always believed that being a locally owned business means more than simply operating within city limits. It means standing alongside the people who make this community what it is, especially when times get difficult.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES & ONLINE BOOKING UPDATE

For anyone needing to schedule transportation, please visit our official website:

https://ridewithfynd.com/

With the launch of our new online booking system and driver applications, FYND no longer accepts transportation reservations by phone or text message.

All transportation bookings must now be submitted through our website. This helps us manage reservations, process payments securely, coordinate drivers, and provide customers with accurate booking updates.

Our text number, 850-332-3415, remains available for hurricane-related community outreach and assistance inquiries.

To our first responders, emergency personnel, utility crews, and everyone working to help our community recover, thank you for everything you’re doing.

To everyone affected by the hurricane, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

And to our customers who have already scheduled transportation for Sunday, we are planning to operate as normal, with safety remaining our top priority.

PENSACOLA, WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER.

If you need help, please text us. If you know someone who needs assistance, please share this post with them.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE OWNERS OF FYND RIDESHARE & TAXI SERVICE

Three years. Hundreds of customers. Thousands of rides. ZERO missed rides. ZERO no-shows. ZERO bad reviews. ZERO complaints.

Today, we woke up to a Facebook post publicly criticizing FYND and encouraging members of our community not to use our transportation services.

Normally, we don’t believe in bringing customer disagreements onto social media. However, when our company’s reputation and reliability are publicly questioned, we believe our customers and community deserve to hear our side of the story.

We want to address what happened, explain how our reservation system works, and provide transparency regarding the accusations being made.

FIRST, HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED.

On October 7, at approximately 10:28 PM, a customer attempted to schedule transportation for her mother for approximately 9 AM the following morning.

During the booking process, the customer experienced difficulties completing her payment and contacted us for assistance.

We explained that payments are securely processed through Stripe, our third-party payment processor.

The customer subsequently informed us that if she couldn’t complete the booking, she would use Uber instead.

For those unfamiliar with our operations, FYND is owned and operated by my wife and me. We personally drive our passengers, manage reservations, answer customer inquiries, and handle the daily operations of our business.

Our typical working hours are approximately noon to 4 AM. When we have a fully confirmed reservation outside those hours, we adjust our sleep schedules to accommodate our customers.

After the customer indicated she would use Uber if the reservation couldn’t be completed, we went to bed.

NOW, LET’S ADDRESS THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL.

One of the biggest accusations being made involves an automated email stating that the customer’s ride was confirmed.

We want to explain exactly how our booking process works.

When a customer enters their information and saves their payment card, our system can generate an initial automated booking notification.

HOWEVER, THAT DOES NOT MEAN THE FINAL PAYMENT HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

Our checkout process informs customers that their transportation is not fully secured until payment has been successfully processed.

Our website also explains that customers will receive a SEPARATE payment confirmation email once the reservation is fully secured.

That final email confirms:

1. Payment has been successfully processed.
2. The ride is officially scheduled and confirmed.
3. A driver has been assigned.

Until those requirements are completed, the reservation is not fully secured.

In this particular situation, the customer entered her card information but did not complete the final payment step.

The payment authorization was subsequently canceled, and the associated reservation was canceled.

WHEN A PAYMENT IS CANCELED, THE ASSOCIATED RIDE IS CANCELED.

That is how our booking process is designed to operate.

We understand that receiving an initial automated email containing the word “confirmed” could be confusing. That is why our checkout instructions and separate final payment confirmation are important.

NOW, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE MONEY.

The customer also raised concerns regarding payment and requested a refund.

We reviewed the transaction directly through Stripe.

Here is what our records show:

Attempted payment: $16.63

Payment status: CANCELED

Total collected by FYND: $0.00

We did not collect a payment for this reservation.

There was no completed charge, no cancellation fee collected, and no money for FYND to refund.

WE COLLECTED ABSOLUTELY ZERO DOLLARS.

We want to make something very clear: based on our reservation records, this was not a driver failing to show up for an active, paid reservation.

The reservation was canceled following the incomplete payment process.

NOW, ABOUT THE $180 TRIP BEING DISCUSSED.

The same customer also publicly criticized a previous $180 transportation charge.

We believe it’s important to explain what that transportation actually involved.

The requested service required our driver to travel from Pensacola to Navarre to pick up the passenger, transport her into Pensacola for a medical appointment, provide transportation to the Pensacola VA, and then return her to Navarre.

That is significantly more transportation than a standard one-way trip.

The quoted price also included a driver relocation fee and an off-hours surcharge.

HERE’S SOMETHING THAT WAS LEFT OUT OF THE PUBLIC POST: WE ACTUALLY RECOMMENDED COMPARING OUR PRICE WITH UBER.

We understood that Uber might offer a more affordable option for that particular trip.

We were upfront about our pricing and encouraged the customer to choose whichever option best fit her needs.

FYND has never claimed to be the cheapest transportation provider for every situation.

Our goal is to provide reliable, professional, locally owned transportation with transparent pricing.

NOW, LET’S TALK ABOUT OUR REPUTATION.

My wife and I have spent the last THREE YEARS building FYND.

We started this business because we believed Pensacola deserved another transportation option beyond the large national rideshare corporations.

We wanted to create something locally owned, something our community could depend on, and something that treated both passengers and drivers fairly.

Over those three years, we have:

* Served HUNDREDS of customers.
* Completed THOUSANDS of rides.
* Maintained ZERO bad reviews.
* Maintained ZERO missed rides.
* Maintained ZERO driver no-shows.
* Maintained ZERO customer complaints.

Those numbers represent three years of hard work, long days, late nights, and dedication to our passengers.

We have also made it a priority to give back to our community, including using our company’s earnings to help local families in need.

We are not a billion-dollar corporation.

We don’t have a massive customer service department or hundreds of drivers.

We are two local business owners working every day to build something meaningful for Pensacola.

DOES THAT MEAN WE ARE PERFECT? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

If we make a mistake, we will acknowledge it.

If something needs improvement, we will improve it.

If a customer has a legitimate concern, we will do our best to resolve it.

And if our booking notifications can be made clearer, we are always willing to review how information is communicated.

But there is a difference between constructive criticism and publicly encouraging an entire community to avoid a business without providing all the relevant information.

We respect everyone’s right to share their experiences.

We simply ask that our business be judged fairly and that the full circumstances be considered.

TO OUR CUSTOMERS AND THE PENSACOLA COMMUNITY:

Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted us with transportation to work, medical appointments, the airport, family gatherings, and everything in between.

Thank you to the customers who continue choosing a locally owned business.

And thank you to everyone who understands how much work goes into operating a small business.

THREE YEARS. HUNDREDS OF CUSTOMERS. THOUSANDS OF RIDES.

We have worked hard to earn your trust, and we intend to keep earning it.

One disputed reservation does not erase three years of service to this community.

FYND IS HERE TO STAY.

We will continue providing Pensacola with a locally owned alternative to Uber and Lyft, and we will continue standing behind the business we have built.

🚨 FYND HAS A NEW HOME ONLINE 🚨

We’ve rebuilt ridewithfynd.com to make it easier to learn about FYND, compare ride options, schedule transportation, request a fare estimate, and find the information you need before your ride.

This was not handed off to a big marketing department. We’ve been working through it ourselves, page by page, while continuing to drive and operate FYND here in Pensacola.

The new website includes:
• Online ride requests and scheduling
• FYND X, FYND Comfort, and FYND XL information
• Pensacola International Airport guidance
• Driver information and transparent pay details
• Our community work and the people behind FYND
• Early access information for the Android app we’re building

Take a look around and tell us what you think. If something is confusing or you believe we should add something, we want to hear it.

🚨 We wanted to share another update on Devin, but first and foremost, we want to say thank you. 🚨

Thank you to everyone who has shared his story, left a kind comment, sent a message, offered equipment, donated, or kept Devin and his family in your prayers. The response has been unbelievable. Together, the community has donated a little over $1,000, and that support has already made a real difference for his family.

We also want to be transparent about an unexpected expense connected to the accident. Florida Highway Patrol issued Devin a traffic citation for failing to stop at the stop sign. According to the findings following the accident, the brakes on Devin’s e-bike were not working. He did not simply choose to ignore the stop sign—he was unable to stop the bike.

Devin was the only person physically injured. He was unconscious, not breathing, and fighting for his life. During those first few days, the hospital staff did not expect him to survive.

The citation listed Devin as homeless, even though his wallet contained his identification with his home address on it. His wallet also contained a photograph of him and his wife. Because he was listed as homeless, the citation never reached his home. His family did not know it existed, had no opportunity to respond to it, and did not know it had gone unpaid.

The citation was only discovered later through a search of the Escambia County court records. By then, it had already been sent to collections. A portion of the donations has now been used to address that unexpected expense.

We also want to clarify how Devin’s wife learned about the accident, because she was not contacted by anyone at the scene.

This is Malachi writing this part personally: I was the person who ultimately found Devin’s wife and told her what had happened. After the accident, I began trying to find someone who knew Devin. I eventually located his workplace and spent roughly 30 to 45 minutes speaking with people there. From that information, I was able to find his home and speak with his wife.

It was approximately five to seven hours after the accident before she learned what had happened to her husband. To our knowledge, she never received a phone call or visit from authorities before I arrived at her home. We cannot say with certainty which person or agency was responsible for making that notification, but Devin’s wife should not have had to learn about her husband’s life-threatening accident hours later from someone who had to track her down independently.

As for the assistance programs available to Devin, his family, the hospital, and his caseworker have been working through every available option.

An application for emergency Medicaid was submitted, but it was denied. His SSDI application is still pending, and his caseworker continues advocating for him. They are also trying to determine whether any separate medical assistance may provide retroactive coverage for some of his previous medical bills, potentially covering up to 90 days depending on the program’s eligibility determination and effective date.

None of that coverage is guaranteed, and we do not want to give anyone incorrect information or make it sound as though approval is automatic. Please continue praying that these applications and reviews move forward as quickly as possible.

Devin was originally expected to be released this Sunday, but that date has been pushed back. His care team would like to see a little more progress, and his family still needs to complete additional training before he can safely leave.

The good news is that his care team and caseworker do not currently believe placing him in a long-term facility would be the best option. The plan is for Devin to move into his mother’s home, where his wife will become his full-time caregiver. His family is now receiving the training needed to care for him safely at home.

We also want to take a moment to recognize the hospital staff.

We will not name the hospital out of respect for Devin and his family’s privacy, but the doctors, nurses, caseworkers, therapists, and everyone involved in his care have been absolutely incredible. They have taken the time to explain everything clearly, answer questions, guide his family through an overwhelming situation, and treat Devin like family. Most importantly, they have never given up on him.

During those first few days, the staff did not believe Devin was likely to survive his injuries. We were told that people with injuries as severe as his often do not make it.

Yet here we are, nearly 90 days later, and Devin is still here. He is breathing, regaining some independence with basic bodily functions, and continuing to make progress. He still needs assistance with many things and has an incredibly long road ahead, but there is now hope that he may eventually be able to walk again.

That shows exactly what kind of fighter Devin is.

Every improvement matters when there was once so little hope that he would survive at all. His determination, along with the care and encouragement he has received from the hospital staff, is what keeps everyone going.

On a personal note, we previously had a bad experience at this same hospital. Seeing how this team has cared for Devin has honestly changed our perspective. Maybe we encountered people on a particularly difficult day during our own experience, because the care given to Devin and his family has been nothing short of amazing.

To every staff member who has cared for Devin: thank you for your patience, compassion, honesty, and refusal to give up on him.

And to everyone who has donated, shared, reached out, offered help, or prayed: thank you for showing Devin and his family that they are not alone. Every single bit of support truly matters. ❤️

Pensacola, we need your help. ❤️

Approximately three months ago, I witnessed an accident that changed the life of a man named Devin Potts forever. Since that morning, my wife Abigail and I have stayed by his side and done everything within our power to help him and his family.

Devin’s family has given us permission to share his story and this photograph.

At approximately 7:00 a.m., I was on my way to pick up a FYND customer when I witnessed Devin, who was riding an e-bike, collide with another vehicle. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, both the front and rear brakes on his e-bike failed. He was unable to stop at a stop sign and collided with the side of the vehicle.

I stayed beside Devin as he faded in and out of consciousness. While we waited for EMS to arrive, I had to perform CPR on him.

After EMS transported Devin from the scene, I realized that, in the shock of everything that had happened, I had forgotten to ask which hospital they were taking him to. I knew almost nothing about him—not where he lived, who his family was, or how to contact them. All I could remember was the shirt he was wearing, which is pictured in the photograph attached to this post.

I went to his workplace and confirmed that they were missing an employee matching his description. They helped point me toward the area where he lived. As it turned out, Devin and I lived only about 30 seconds apart. We had crossed paths before, but we had never officially met.

Abigail and I eventually found Devin’s home. We had to tell his wife, Crystal, that her husband had been critically injured and transported by ambulance. Nearly seven hours had passed since the accident, and neither Crystal nor Devin’s mother had been notified.

Devin and Crystal had been married for only two weeks.

After finding Crystal, I went with her to the hospital. Crystal and I were the first people there to see Devin. Since that day, I have visited him almost every other day for the past three months.

I have watched his journey from the side of the road to the hospital and through every step of his recovery. I have not given up on him, and I am not going to start now.

Devin and Crystal have an incredible story. They met while experiencing homelessness and worked together to build a home and a life. They purchased a trailer and relied on bicycles to get to work, buy groceries, and attend appointments.

Devin had even placed a down payment on a pickup truck as a surprise for Crystal. In only three more days, he would have been driving that truck instead of riding his bike.

Before the accident, Devin was the only source of income for their household because Crystal is disabled and unable to work. Devin had recently become a full-time employee, but his health insurance was not scheduled to become active until August—two months after the accident.

On the day of the accident, after meeting Crystal and Devin’s mother and learning more about their financial situation, Abigail and I knew we could not simply walk away.

That same day, we decided that our owner pay from FYND—our portion of the company’s profits—would be donated to Devin’s family. We have continued doing that for the past three months.

We also paid their lot rent in advance, ensuring that their home is covered through October 1. We wanted Crystal to have one less bill to fear while her husband was fighting for his life.

We will continue donating all of our owner pay to Devin’s family through Devin’s release from the hospital, which is expected to happen this coming Sunday.

After his release, FYND will continue supporting the family by donating 5% of our profits to them as Devin continues his recovery.

This experience has also shown us how quickly an unexpected, life-changing event can devastate a local family. Going forward, FYND will set aside an additional portion of our profits to create a community assistance fund. That fund will be used to help other people in Pensacola who experience life-changing situations beyond their control.

Devin survived, but he suffered a severe brain injury and now faces a long and difficult road.

He can answer some questions by nodding yes or no. He can use the bathroom with assistance, and his family has been told that he should eventually be able to walk again. However, he is not expected to regain his natural ability to speak.

He will need an augmentative and alternative communication device, commonly called an AAC device, to help him communicate. We are also trying to provide him with a tablet that he can use for communication, educational videos, mental stimulation, and relearning everyday skills.

The progress Devin makes and the skills he relearns during this stage of his recovery may have a lasting effect on what he is able to retain, making the coming months incredibly important.

Devin remains on a feeding tube and will need specialized nutrition. He is expected to leave the hospital this Sunday and be transferred to a care facility, with his mother traveling here to help transport him.

Meanwhile, Devin and Crystal still have their trailer, animals, household bills, medical expenses, and an entirely new set of long-term needs.

This experience has affected me more deeply than I can explain. I have spent many sleepless nights replaying the accident in my mind. I still see it happen over and over again.

But whatever effect this has had on me is nothing compared with what Devin, Crystal, and their family must now face.

We are not asking anyone to give more than they can afford. We are simply asking our community to help if you are willing and able.

Donations may be used for:

• An AAC communication device
• A tablet for communication, education, and mental stimulation
• Specialized feeding-tube nutrition
• Medical and rehabilitation expenses
• Household bills and care for their animals
• Transportation and relocation needs
• Other necessities throughout Devin’s recovery

No donation is too small. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this post. A single share may help Devin’s story reach someone who can contribute.

You can donate through the link below:

I was there when Devin’s life changed. I stayed beside him while we waited for help. I helped find his family, waited with them at the hospital, and have continued showing up for him throughout the past three months.

Abigail and I made a promise that we would help this family. FYND will continue honoring that promise.

We are not prepared to let Devin and Crystal face this without a fight.

Let’s show them what Pensacola can do when one of our neighbors needs us most. ❤️

We want to be transparent about something we’re changing here at FYND.

Up until now, we have used generative AI to help create some of the graphics, artwork, and other content you’ve seen on our page.

We know generative AI has become a pretty big topic lately, and we also know there are a lot of people who have very real concerns about AI-generated artwork and content.

We’ve heard you.

Going forward, FYND will no longer be using generative AI to create our pictures, flyers, advertisements, or other visual content.

But we also want to clear something up because we don’t want anyone getting the wrong idea about what was and wasn’t AI-generated.

All of the pictures you’ve seen of our actual vehicles are REAL.

All of the pictures you’ve seen of me, the owner, are REAL.

Our vehicles, our drivers, our business, and the actual services we show you have always been real.

The generative AI was mainly used for things like some of our graphics, designs, logo-related artwork, backgrounds, and similar promotional content — which, let’s be honest, most of you could probably tell was AI-generated anyway.

Now we want to make all of that our own too.

Over the next few weeks, my wife and I are going to be working on redesigning our graphics, flyers, branding, and other materials ourselves using Canva, our own photos, and other non-generative tools.

And I’m going to be completely honest with everyone…

I’m a developer. I can build software. I can build websites. I can spend hours figuring out why one line of code broke something that was working perfectly five minutes ago.

What I CANNOT promise you is that I know how to make a flyer look good.

So some of our graphics might be a little ugly at first. Some might have a font that makes you wonder what I was thinking. My wife will probably have to stop me from making some absolutely terrible design decisions.

But they’ll be ours.

We’re a small, locally owned business. There isn’t a marketing department sitting behind FYND. There isn’t a professional graphic designer on payroll. A lot of the time, it really is just my wife and me figuring things out as we go.

We also don’t want to pretend we never used generative AI just because the conversation around it has changed.

We did.

It helped us create things that, at the time, we simply didn’t have the skills or resources to make ourselves. But we’re listening to the people who support us, and we think this is the right direction for FYND going forward.

So over the next few weeks, you may notice things changing. Our graphics may look different. Some of our branding may change. Our flyers may change. We’re going to work through it piece by piece and make FYND’s visual identity something we actually created ourselves.

All we ask is that you give us a little patience while we learn.

And if one of my flyers looks absolutely terrible, you’re allowed to tell me.

Just maybe be a little nice about it. I’m trying. 😂

Thank you to everyone who continues to support FYND and a small local business that is still learning, changing, and growing.

THIS SCREENSHOT SHOULD GET EVERY RIDER AND DRIVER’S ATTENTION.

According to this screenshot of a conversation with Uber Support, a driver was given this explanation of how Uber’s pricing works:

Uber Support says that under its “Upfront Pricing Split,” what the passenger pays and what the driver earns are calculated separately.

The message goes even further, stating that Uber uses “decoupled machine-learning models” to determine pricing — including what a passenger may be willing to pay and what a driver may be willing to accept.

Read that again.

The amount the rider pays and the amount the driver receives are not simply one fare divided by a fixed percentage.

That is exactly the kind of pricing model we DID NOT want at FYND Rideshare.

Our system is intentionally simple.

RIDER PRICING
• $5 base/call-out fee
• Starting at $2 per mile depending on vehicle
• $15 or $20 minimum depending on vehicle
• $15 off-hours fee when applicable

DRIVER PAY
The driver receives 75% of the ride fare. Every time.

No AI determining what we think you might be willing to pay.

No algorithm determining the lowest amount a driver might be willing to accept.

No changing the driver/company split from ride to ride.

If the eligible ride fare is $40, the driver gets $30.

If it’s $100, the driver gets $75.

75% means 75%.

We built FYND around a simple idea:

Riders should understand how their price is calculated. Drivers should understand how they’re paid.

No guessing. No mystery algorithm.

Just straightforward pricing and a straightforward split.

🚨 RIDESHARE DRIVERS — FYND IS EXPANDING! 🚨

If you drive in Arizona, Idaho, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, or Alabama, we want to talk to you.

FYND Rideshare started in Pensacola, Florida, and with our new insurance program, we’re ready to expand into new cities across 7 states.

Now we need local drivers.

💰 YOU KEEP 75% OF EVERY FYND RIDE

🚘 YOUR MONTHLY INSURANCE COST:
• Up to 4 passengers — $80/month
• Up to 6 passengers — $90/month
• Luxury up to 4 — $100/month
• Luxury up to 6 — $110/month

FYND subsidizes 80% of the insurance cost, and you pay your portion directly through our insurance provider’s portal. We don’t hide it inside your ride earnings.

AND NO — WE DON’T EXPECT YOU TO BUILD OUR BUSINESS FOR US.

This is important.

If we decide to launch FYND in your area, we will spend the money necessary to get FYND legally compliant to operate in that market.

We will advertise and work to generate regular FYND ride requests for our drivers.

Your job isn’t to go find every passenger yourself.

You’ll be able to accept regular rides generated through FYND, while ALSO having the opportunity to build your own book of repeat customers.

That’s one of the biggest differences with FYND.

Meet someone who wants to continue riding with you?

Keep them as your customer.

Build relationships. Build repeat business. Set your own pricing for your direct bookings through FYND.

But building your own clientele is an opportunity — not a requirement.

📍 CURRENT EXPANSION STATES:

Arizona • Idaho • Florida • Tennessee • Georgia • Ohio • Alabama

And if you’re one of the first qualified drivers to help us establish FYND in your local area, we’ll talk with you about the opportunity to become an FYND Area Manager.

We need at least 3 qualified drivers total before launching a new local market.

You also do NOT have to quit Uber, Lyft, or the other apps you currently use.

Keep driving. Talk to us. Learn what we’re building. See if FYND makes sense for you.
