🍕 An Update from Georgios Pizza
We hope everyone made it safely through the storm!
Like so many businesses in our area, Georgios lost power during the hurricane. Unfortunately, we did not have a generator to keep our refrigeration and freezers operating.
As a result, we made the decision to discard all of our refrigerated and frozen food products rather than take any chances with food safety.
This means we must completely restock our inventory, prepare fresh ingredients, make new dough, sauces, and other products, and get our kitchen ready to serve you again.
Food safety and quality have always been priorities at Georgios, and we are not going to compromise those standards just to reopen a little sooner.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to get everything back to normal.
Thank you for supporting Georgios Pizza, and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

A Hurricane Memory from Georgios
All this hurricane watching reminded Ben and me of a story from many years ago.
Back then, it seemed like the cool thing for the national weather people to do was fly right into wherever a hurricane was supposed to make landfall and report from the beach.
The night before one of the storms, we had already lost power at Georgios, but we were still there cooking by lights and flashlights. Two guys walked in wearing rain jackets that said NBC, carrying their big television cameras. They just wanted something to eat.
When they finished, I told them, “I’m not going to charge y’all. You’re doing a favor for Pensacola, so this one’s on me.”
Apparently, they went back and told Al Roker about us, because the next evening Al Roker came into Georgios with the NBC crew. We were still without power, and I ended up cooking Philly cheesesteaks for the whole group by flashlight. They loved them.
On his last day in Pensacola, Al was broadcasting from Pensacola Beach, and on national television he said something I’ll never forget: if you ever want the best Philly cheesesteak east of the Mississippi, go see Carl at Georgios in Pensacola, Florida.
About a week later, Al sent me a VHS tape of the broadcast along with some shirts and hats. I kept that tape up at the restaurant, and whenever friends came in, I’d put it on the little TV and proudly show them our moment of fame.
Then one day I went to show it to somebody, put the tape in... and a soap opera came on.
One of my employees had recorded over Al Roker. 😂
And that was the end of Georgios’ brush with greatness.
The hurricane took out the electricity. An employee took out the evidence. 😂
