Well folks, it’s with heavy hearts—and a lot of frustration—that I share this update.
Our comeback with the bus was extremely short-lived. After just four outings, on our way home Sunday, Priscilla started blowing heavy smoke. First thing Monday morning, we had her towed back to Blue Angels Tire & Automotive—the same shop that installed engine #1 in February and engine #2 in May.
Today, we were told a piston has failed and burned. They cannot provide a clear explanation as to why, but the bottom line is this: we’re now facing yet another full engine replacement.
At this point, it’s very hard to ignore the pattern. Two engine installs in a matter of months, both followed by major failure. It simply doesn’t add up. We are beyond frustrated and seriously questioning how this keeps happening. Multiple engine failures like this are not normal, and it raises real concerns about the work that’s been done.
Looking back, we honestly regret replacing the original engine at all. We would have been better off running it into the ground than dealing with repeated failures like this.
We are not giving up—we’ve come too far for that—but we are re-evaluating our next steps. At this point, it's very unlikely we will continue with the same engine source. We are concerned about the mechanic shop too and hate to feel that way. We have a lot of money into this mechanic shop. Over 8 grand in labor now and we haven't even gotten any reimbursement on the warranty yet. Which only covered $95 of the $150/hr charge. Something is clearly not right, and we have to make a different decision moving forward.
I’ve spent most of today personally calling, messaging, and emailing our upcoming events so they wouldn’t hear this news on Facebook first. I believe everyone is notified through July 2nd.
I truly don’t have the words to describe how disappointing and exhausting this has been—but I’m sure you can imagine.
