Stop in and see Janie and her great staff but please pay attention to her pleas about the parking!! 😊

Good morning!! We hope you’re off to a good start to your Wednesday! Stop in and see us for your daily dose of caffeine! We can hook you up with as much espresso or as little as you’d like! Want to be up until 2am?! I got you. Want to just get through the morning?! We still got you!😉

A couple little things that most already know but we want to reiterate about our parking lot. We LOVE that people make this a meeting place! Due to our limited parking, if you plan to meet up and hop in with the other person to maybe gallivant around our beautiful county, please park in the gravel parking lot across from the shop. If you have a large group, please park across the street as well. If you plan on staying with us a while, if you wouldn’t mind parking towards the back of the parking lot so people just running in quickly can park in the front to grab and go. 🏁☕️
Ok I’m done with parking lot rules😂

On to other things. Todays soup is a fan favorite, tomato basil. Grab a sandwich, soup or side and a bag of chips and you’ve got yourself a box lunch.

Also, tomorrow is our 2nd class for our Quickbooks course, so we will be closing at 3:30!! Ok! I think that’s it…until I remember something else.

Thank you for supporting our small business!! 💛☕️💛

I have been thanking a lot of people for helping at the shop, and I need to make sure to thank the employees that have been with me over the 8.5 years. It’s hard to believe that there have been a total of 33 employed throughout that time. We have had some serious fun, but they have worked seriously hard, especially on busy Saturday mornings and after school rushes. If you own a small business you know how valuable your staff is, and I was certainly blessed in that department. Unfortunately I do not have pictures of each one of them, (sorry to anyone who got left out) but these are some that I found on my phone that I wanted to share, mostly for their benefit, but I hope you enjoy them to. The limit for one post is 10 so I will make another post of a few more pictures. Thank you Team Greene Beanery!!

It was one week today that Janie and I signed the papers for her to become the new owner of the shop. Once she knew when the closing would be, my daughter Haley got a message to our family and (a few friends) to show up at the shop that evening wearing their Greene Beanery t-shirts. It was certainly fitting that my last big group of people I was with at the shop was my family. They listened to me talk about my dream for quite a few years, and also were the main taste testers of my coffee when I first started roasting. I cannot thank them enough for the support they have given me in so many ways!! I could never have accomplished this without them, especially Matthew who gave me the encouragement to go ahead and buy the building in 2014. And of course, as I have said all along, I could never have lived this dream without Janie actually running the shop for me. I am now and have always been more of a background person, and we all know that Janie, well…… she is definitely a foreground person who loves to be right out there where the people are! You will see a picture of a rock that says, “Papaw Ryan’s Path” on it and another picture of dad’s grandkids. Dad was someone who loved the shop and he made so many things for me to use. When he passed away I decided to put a path from the school to the shop in honor of his memory, and because he had grandkids attending the school and teaching at the school. He would be so proud to know his grandkids were walking that path. In another picture my sisters and I are standing in front of a maple tree that the McCoy family planted in his memory. Anyway, I lastly want to thank all of you who have absolutely given me such wonderful memories over the last 8.5 years and have blessed the shop with your continued support. I am sure you will still be there for Janie. I look forward to seeing her implement new ideas to move the shop forward in the years ahead. My prayer has always been that God would bless everyone who walks through the doors, and that will still be my prayer. Thank you all again.

Janie has created a new page for the coffee shop with her new name! I will leave my page open for awhile, but please refer to this page if you have any questions about the hours or the menu, or to place an order for coffee. Stop in and keep her busy for once in 8.5 years!! 😂

Good evening from The Queen Beanery Coffeehouse!! What an adventure this has been and will continue to be!!

This journey started 9 years ago, when I was closing the doors on my in-home daycare after 12 years, to find a fresh start. I had reached out to Cheryl after being told she was thinking about opening a coffee shop in Peebles. A few phone calls and messages later, an interview was set up in her home on Aug 4, 2014. The shop opened in Feb of 2015, and the rest is history!!

If you would’ve told me 9 years ago, my boss would become one of my best friends, my go-to prayer warrior, and the person to create the most adorable job for me to work at, I would’ve never believed you. People thought we were crazy taking the quietest person, and pairing her with the loudest(you can determine who is who 😉😂) But it has worked and worked so well!

She had said that when it was her time to become a grandma, that’s when she’d retire so she could help with the grandbaby. That time came last fall, when Haley announced that she was expecting her baby boy in May. Who knew that sweet tiny baby, would shake all of our worlds for the good!🥹💙

When Cheryl approached me about buying the shop, I kind of kept putting it off at first so I wouldn’t be without her. That’s complete truth. It’s just been her and I for 8.5 years and what would I do without her?! I knew I had to make a decision. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else, so I sat down with Clay one night and poured my heart out about it. I couldn’t imagine not having my customers, the after school kids, the residents next door, travelers passing through or getting to see my parents greet our customers nearly everyday. So I went for it!

About 3 months later, many many documents, laughs and tears, we’re here. Cheryl is living her best life with her sweet grandbaby, Ezekiel, and I’m continuing the dream she has worked so hard for. I’m so blessed to have been given this opportunity. I’m so excited and nervous at the same time. I don’t plan on any big changes. Why fix what’s not broken. I do plan on adding some community events later down the road once I’ve become settled in my new role. We all know how much I love to love on my little town and the people in it.❤️💙

Thank you to everyone that has supported us throughout the years!! I look forward to continuing to sling your morning coffee with a side of sarcasm(I don’t even charge for that)! You may still get a glimpse of Cheryl now and then, as she’ll continue to roast for me for the time being! I can’t wait to “fire her” like she has done to me for the past 8 years!!😂

Thank you again for loving us and making us part of your day and your family!!

*Keep watching for our grand reopening updates! Date to be announced soon!! New logo on its way as well!!

We love you all!!

Well, I am finally making myself write this post announcing what many of you have already known was going to happen. Today Janie and I signed the papers for her to buy the shop. I cannot even begin to put into words the emotions that go along with this great journey I have been on for the last 8.5 years!! What was a dream for close to twenty years to bring a coffee shop to our area became a reality in February, 2015. Janie has been the Queen of the Beanery since day one and it is only fitting that she continue the dream, and put her own touch on things - and we all know Janie will bring a whole new flare to the place!! She will call the shop The Queen Beanery, which is very fitting. 😊 I want to take more time later to make a final post because there are just too many words that I have scrambling around in my head right now. But just briefly, thank you so much for being the absolute best customers around and supporting this small business. Things will basically stay the same with what we offer, unless Janie decides to do things differently. I still plan on roasting the coffee for the time being, but most of the days of my new season of life will be the blessing of helping take care of my grandson. The first picture shown is of us at the closing today, and the other pictures were taken by Kayla Rudd. Thanks again for your support!

First day of school for Haley. First day of babysitting for me. We made a handoff at the shop and of course had to get pictures with Janie and Carrigan before Ezekiel and I headed home and Haley headed to school. Praying for all teachers, staff, administrators, bus drivers and students as the new year kicks off!!

Good morning! I cannot believe the first day of school is quickly approaching. The teachers begin one week from today and the students two days later. I thought this post from Shana Grooms was timely in light of that fact. Read her words and be encouraged!

Pearl of Wisdom: Scatterbrain Surrender

“As long as I’m alive in this body, there is good work for me to do.” (Philippians 1:22, MSG)

“Scatterbrained” is a funny little word, isn’t it? It’s also very accurate as it describes how I’m feeling lately.

Perhaps it’s because I’m a mom of two teenage boys right now who are awake when I’m dozing off, and at just that moment, they feel that it’s the perfect time to talk (which I love that they want to talk, by the way).

Maybe it’s because I’m a teacher and can feel August inching ever so closely, knowing that my summer schedule, which is not much of a schedule at all, will be changing drastically.

It could be that I feel “directionless” about how God is leading me right now, fully aware He is still here with me but not knowing what His next step for me is.

Have you been here, too, sweet one? Just feeling a little anxious and kind of blah?

If so, I’d like to simply encourage you to stay the course. So much of our faith is built during times of questioning, overwhelm, or unfocused days.

We can trust, however, that God is still at work in our lives even when we don’t sense a specific direction.

When He is welcomed into our day, and we are walking with Him, we can trust with each step forward that this IS the right direction.

He will show us everything we need to know in His due time.

Even though this flighty feeling is driving me a little crazy, I was gently reminded in God’s Word that “there is good work for me to do” (verse 22).

I feel uplifted that God has a plan, and I know that my heart is willing to follow Him even when my mind is a little unsteady. Maybe you need this gentle reminder, too.

Sweet one, we don’t have to have it all together every day. Christ already does.

God has a plan for both you and me. May we surrender our linear thoughts AND our nonlinear thoughts to Him and allow Him to remove the scatter from our brains.

What a relief it is to surrender!

Love in Christ,
Shana
