This morning, I was forced to conduct a full inspection of Mrs. Frisky’s medicine and food cabinet.

She claimed she was “cleaning and organizing.”

Suspicious.

Naturally, I climbed in to supervise and check every shelf personally. Cans of food? Acceptable. Treats? Promising. Pill pockets? Deeply concerning.

Then I found the medicine.

I inspected it very carefully and am pleased to report that NONE OF IT IS FOR ME.

Biscuit popped her head into the room to check on the situation, so I reported back that she was safe too. Apparently this is just the spare, emergency, “just in case” medicine.

Then I overheard Mrs. Frisky say, “Percy’s medicine is in the office and Macho Man’s is in the fridge.”

Excuse me?

I have absolutely no idea what she means by “Percy’s medicine.” I do not take medicine. I receive Churus twice a day because I am handsome and deserving.

Macho Man, however, may want to inspect the refrigerator.

Eccles Cakes, Cats & Chats with Mrs. Frisky — AFTER HOURS

Hi Frisky Family,

I’m bringing back my homemade Eccles cakes… and opening Frisky after hours to do it.

Join me Friday, September 4 from 6:00–7:30pm for a special evening with the Frisky Felines.

We normally close at 4pm during the summer, but for one Friday night we’re reopening the Cat Lounge for just 0 guests.

Your ticket includes 90 minutes with the cats, plenty of chats and a proper catch-up with me, any handmade beverage of your choice, and fresh-out-of-the-oven homemade Eccles cakes — a traditional English pastry filled with spiced currants and baked until golden and flaky.

Because you’ll be here after hours, you’ll also get a glimpse of what happens at Frisky once everyone else has gone home — including Frisky Feline dinner time!

You’re also welcome to join me for Percy and Macho Man’s evening medicine routine and see a little of what goes into caring for our resident felines behind the scenes.

Come by yourself or bring a friend. Eat warm Eccles cakes, hang out with cats, have a chat, and enjoy Frisky when the doors would normally be closed.

Friday, September 4 | 6:00–7:30pm
$30 per person
**Only 10 tickets available**

Reservations can be made here:

UPDATE: MRS. FRISKY FORGOT TO ADD OLIVER!

Yesterday Mrs. Frisky asked which cat you’d bring as your wedding plus-one and somehow forgot Oliver.

Oliver.

The one already dressed like he’s about to ruin a family.

In hindsight, perhaps Mrs. Frisky’s subconscious was protecting the wedding.

Because Oliver wouldn’t just attend.

He’d ARRIVE.

He’d have one martini, collect six pieces of information nobody intended him to know, and by the time the speeches started he’d somehow have the microphone.

“To the happy couple. You both look wonderful. Although not as wonderful as the groom looked with Jessica in Cabo, apparently.”

Silence.

“Oops. We weren’t doing secrets?”

From there it’s carnage.

He’d reveal who hates the bridesmaid dresses, who said the marriage wouldn’t last, who hooked up at the rehearsal dinner and why Aunt Susan REALLY hasn’t spoken to Linda since 1986.

Then he’d hand back the microphone, straighten his tie and say:

“Anyway. Mazel tov.”

By dessert, two people have left, one table isn’t speaking and Grandma is asking Oliver to sit next to her because she wants ALL the tea.

Mrs. Frisky is very sorry she forgot him.

Oliver isn’t.

He’s available as your plus one at the next wedding.

WHICH WEDDING PLUS-ONE ARE YOU BRINGING?

Archie — said he was “just going to have one drink” and is now requesting Uptown Funk from the DJ.

Stripes — has already complained about the seating chart and quietly moved his place card.

Maxwell — hates weddings, hates small talk, hates the photographer… somehow looks incredible in every photo.

Percy — found the quietest chair in the room and has been waiting patiently for cake since 6:15.

Macho Man — disappeared for 20 minutes and came back on a first-name basis with the bartender, the groom’s uncle and someone from another wedding.

Choose carefully.

You have to sit next to him through dinner.

Archie, Stripes, Maxwell, Percy or Macho Man?

Dear Frisky Family,

As some of you may remember, I wrote about our dear friend Doug earlier this year. For those who don’t, Doug first came into our lives as a Frisky customer and, over time, became a very dear friend to me, to Sonny, to the Frisky team, and of course to the Frisky Felines.

Doug is now in hospice, and we have been visiting him regularly, often bringing one of the cats with us. Surprisingly, Hawthorn, our somewhat sassy lass, seems to enjoy these visits the most and has become the regular Frisky Feline to visit him.

I have shared photos from some of these visits before, but I have always been careful not to post photos of Doug himself. I never wanted these moments to feel performative, and I felt they belonged to Doug unless he wanted them shared.

Today, though, Doug told me he wished I would post a picture of him during one of the visits.

So, at his request, I’m sharing these photos of Doug and Hawthorn from today.

To me, they capture something very special: a treasured friend and a misunderstood cat who somehow understands exactly what she is there to do — provide love, comfort and companionship. And she does it in spades.

Love,
Claire (Mrs Frisky)

Morning and evening routine with the Three Musketeers.

Percy has his Vetmedin and furosemide, Hawthorn—our Chief Feline Officer—assists with preparing the medicine, and Macho Man has his insulin.

We do medicine time just outside the cat lounge so everyone gets the individual attention they need without 12 very curious assistants trying to help. Everything is thoroughly sanitized when we’re done ❤️

Do you remember our infamous naughty cat, Monty? The one who used to break out of the cat lounge after hours, set off the motion sensors and essentially call the cops on us in the middle of the night?

We eventually adopted the little criminal and brought him home a couple of years ago.

I’m happy to report that his life of crime appears to be behind him. These days, Monty has turned his attention to a different form of terrorism: breakfast.

The SECOND we wake up in the morning — before coffee, before conversation, before we’ve even properly opened our eyes — Monty begins howling for his breakfast.

And when I say howling, I mean HOWLING.

He is so ridiculously loud that we now feed him before making coffee because I’m genuinely afraid he’s going to wake the neighbors.

So yes, Monty has been rehabilitated.

He no longer calls the cops on us.

He just screams until we comply with his demands.

While Oliver monitors the window for wildlife, I have a far more demanding responsibility:

Maintaining this level of fabulousness.

It’s exhausting.

The hair. The posture. The mystique. The effortless superiority.

So yes, I’ll be lying here while Oliver handles security.

Someone has to be beautiful.
