Earthjustice just filed a legal challenge against the Trump administration’s push to open Alaska’s Western Arctic to destructive oil drilling.
We are suing the administration for approving ConocoPhillips’ exploratory seismic and drilling program near its Willow project without addressing the harm it will cause to wildlife and sensitive ecosystems. The Western Arctic is an essential refuge for wildlife, including caribou, polar bears, and migratory birds from around the world.
This move by the administration is part of an all-out assault on Alaska’s Arctic, aiming to maximize drilling across the entire region. It’s also illegal, which is why Earthjustice is suing as part of our decades-long work to protect Alaska’s Arctic.
