Calles de Oro Oxnard Calles de Oro is the street outreach component of Victory Life Christian Center. Responding to the O Calles de Oro is a faith based gang intervention project.

The project will provide neighborhood youth/young adults (street gang identified) alternatives to negative street activity through street outreach; diverting individuals into pro-social activities and refferals to community and couty based services/resources and faith based activities. The Calles de Oro Team will also provide neighborhood based community outreach and safety monitoring to various t

argeted neighborhoods and community events throughout Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Lemonwood, and El Rio. Target Population:
18 to 25 year old individuals
At risk youth/young adults
Out of School
Youth and young aduts on probation and youth Parole, and state Parole

Individual and Target Groups Outreach Services
Divert youth/young adults from negative street activity and prevent retaliation
Canvass neighborhoods and connect with high risk youth and young adults during after school hours and early evenings to diffuse situations
Referrals and information: (Provide linkage to services)
Educational Support/Tutoring/GED
Employment Training/Job Readiness opportunities
Recreational and Cultural Activities
Substance Abuse Programs
Inpatient placement sober living Training Centers

Oxnard (Gang Safety Zones)

Community Neighborhood Outreach
Collaborate with key community leaders (neighborhood associations, residents, Faith based advocates, youth/young adults)
Provide Community safety monitoring in targeted neighborhoods
Collaborate with neighborhood based, and community services. Collaborate with neighborhood recreation centers and cultural resources

A 32 year old male identified as Christopher J. Camper was gunned down while at a bus stop on Saturday, June 25 at 5:15pm. on Gonzalez and Ventura Road in Oxnard. Camper, a Communications and Music Production major at Oxnard College was hit with multiple gunshots and after life saving efforts, eventually succumbed to his wounds at VCMC. Police are investigating and seeking leads.But thus far, no cowards have been identified. There is a $10,000 reward for any information that results in a conviction. Camper leaves behind a 13 year old daughter.
It should be noted that Christopher is the son of 805 Expressions' Publisher.

ONE PERSON WOUNDED IN OXNARD SHOOTING

Updated---One person was wounded in a shooting in Oxnard Monday night.

It happened at 7:13 PM in the area of Isleton Place at M Street which is a neighborhood located south of Fifth Street and east of Ventura Road.

Police say an 18-year-old Oxnard resident was shot twice.

He was rushed to VCMC where police said Monday that he was listed in stable condition.

Police responded quickly to the area and at one point detained one person but they've not reported any arrests being made in connection with the shooting.

At one point they described the shooter as a 15 or 16 year old Hispanic male who was armed with a handgun.

At last report they were still trying to establish a motive for the shooting.
