❤️ A Small Business Summer Update ❤️
Starting this week, Oxford Doughnut Shoppe will no longer be open on Wednesdays…
Now through August 19th.
As many of you know, operating a small business in a college town comes with unique challenges.
During the school year, our community is bustling with students, faculty, staff, organizations, meetings, campus events, celebrations, athletic events, and visitors.
Those things help keep our doors open and our fryers running.
But when summer arrives, much of that activity comes to a sudden stop.
The reality is that it's difficult to keep making donuts, paying staff, purchasing ingredients, covering utilities, rent, insurance, and all the other costs of running a business when sales simply aren't there.
As business owners, there are many days during the summer where we aren't paying ourselves at all.💔
At the same time, summer is also one of the few opportunities we have to spend time with our own family and kids before school starts back up.
Those moments matter too.🥰🥰
For now, we plan to remain open Thursday through Sunday.
However, we want to be transparent: whether we can continue operating four days a week will depend heavily on the support we receive over the next several weeks…
July might be “Weekends only”
So if you've ever said:
🍩 "I need to stop in more often."
🍩 "I've been meaning to try that flavor."
🍩 "I should grab donuts for work, church, or the family."
Now is the time.
Every dozen purchased, every preorder placed, every Facebook share, every recommendation to a friend truly makes a difference for a small family-owned business like ours.
We WILL be bringing Wednesdays back once Miami University returns and campus life starts buzzing, when local schools are back into their routines again this fall. ❤️
We will also be announcing our annual closure later in July for the Butler County Fair and some much-needed building maintenance.
Thank you for supporting us through our first year of ownership. Thank you for every early morning visit, every preorder, every Facebook share, and every kind word.
Small businesses survive because communities choose them.
And we are incredibly grateful that Oxford continues to choose us. ❤️🍩
