If you missed out on our sold-out Valentine’s Dinner earlier this year, here’s your chance!

Cranky Chef is heading back to Lake Gaston Coffee Company for a special Halloween Wine Dinner on Friday, October 30th!

Halloween isn’t just for the kids. This is a chance for the adults to get out, enjoy the holiday, have some incredible food and wine, and just have a great night.

We’re keeping this one small and intimate, which makes it even more fun — enjoy dinner, meet some new people, share a few laughs, and experience Halloween a little differently this year.

For the evening, we’ve created a four-course, chef-curated dining experience built specifically around the flavors of fall and the spirit of the night. Each course has been thoughtfully designed from start to finish, with wine pairings selected to complement the menu. Take a look at what we’ve put together!

We continue to grow!

We’re excited to officially bring the retail side of Cranky Chef to another community that we’ve really enjoyed working in over the years — Littleton and the Lake Gaston area!

You can now find us at Country Pickin' Farms’ Farms in Littleton, where we’re excited to showcase some of what makes Cranky Chef great and bring it into anyone and everyone’s home.

We’re starting with our signature line of chef-made chicken salads, with fresh-made salads, dressings, breads, desserts and plenty more to come as we continue to build and grow our retail line.

We’ve spent years bringing our food into homes through private dinners, events and catering, and now we’re finding a whole new way to do it.

We’re excited about this new partnership, excited to be in Littleton and the Lake Gaston community, and we’re just getting started!

Last night we had the opportunity to take over another beautiful home kitchen and put together a fresh summer three-course private dinner.

One of my favorite parts of these evenings is that our guests get to see what actually goes into the food—not just the finished plate.

We opened last night with our Shrimp & White Cheddar Grit Cake.

We started with slowly cooked grits, folded in freshly grated white cheddar, formed each cake in ring molds and chilled them until set. From there, they were lightly battered with fresh local eggs, coated in panko and seared until golden and crispy on the outside while staying creamy and almost melty in the center.

Then came the Gulf shrimp—seasoned and marinated before being sautéed with garlic and shallots, deglazed with white wine, then finished with fresh herbs, a touch of cream and cold butter to bring together a silky pan sauce.

The final plate was finished with blistered tomatoes, roasted garlic, our house-made roasted tomato & garlic oil, fresh herbs and edible micro flowers.

Crispy, creamy, buttery, bright—and a pretty fun way to start dinner.

And that's really what these evenings are about.

We prepare the food right there in your kitchen. As each course comes together, we plate it, bring it to the table and talk our guests through what they're eating—the ingredients, the techniques, where some of those ingredients came from, the inspiration behind the dish and occasionally a chef tip, trick or story along the way.

Every sauce. Every vinaigrette. Every component on the plate. Chef made.

We don't take shortcuts because a Cranky Chef private dinner isn't just about putting great food on the table. It's about everything that happens around it—the cooking, the conversation, the presentation, the stories and ultimately sitting around a table with friends enjoying a night you'll remember.

Great food is where it starts. The experience is what brings it all together.

There's been a lot happening behind the scenes at Cranky Chef, and we're excited to finally start sharing some of it. Over the past few months we've been working on several new projects, and today we're excited to announce the first.

Cranky Chef is officially expanding into the retail market!

Along with our catering, private chef experiences, and cooking classes, we'll now be offering a growing line of fresh, handcrafted foods and specialty snacks. From fresh-fried kettle chips and house-made dips and dressings to seasonal creations, we've got some exciting things in the works.

Before we could officially launch, there was one important milestone to reach, and we're proud to say we passed our health inspection with a 100%.

We're kicking things off with Cranky Chef's Classic Chicken Salad—made with tender white chicken breast, Duke's® mayonnaise, fresh chopped celery and onion, a touch of organic honey, an aromatic blend of herbs and seasonings, then finished with fresh lemon zest and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for just the right amount of brightness.

We're proud to partner with The Franklinton Market and The Creedmoor Kitchen & Farm Creedmoor Kitchen and Farm Market, where you'll now find our Classic Chicken Salad in the cooler.

We've still got a few more exciting things we've been working on behind the scenes, and we'll be sharing them with you real soon. We're just getting started.

Last night we had the pleasure of spending the evening on beautiful Lake Gaston with Lindsey and an amazing group of friends celebrating a few birthdays. Even after all these years, nights like these remind us exactly why we became chefs.

Private dinners are so much more than serving a meal—they're about creating an experience. Every menu is built around our guests, every dish is made from scratch, and every ingredient is chosen with purpose. This entire menu happened to be 100% gluten-free, but our goal was never to make it taste "gluten-free." Our goal was simply to create an incredible meal where every guest could enjoy the exact same experience without compromise.

From imported Italian gluten-free Mafaldine pasta and New Zealand rack of lamb to wild Argentinian shrimp, fresh herbs, slow-cooked stone-ground grits, and house-made dressings, we believe great food starts with quality ingredients and letting them speak for themselves.

No bottled dressings. No instant five-minute grits. No shortcuts. Just honest cooking, attention to detail, and a passion for creating something memorable.

Thank you, Lindsey, for trusting Cranky Chef to be a part of your celebration. It was an incredible evening, and we hope it's a night you'll all remember for years to come.

🌴 **A Look Back at Jerry's 50th Birthday Celebration!** 🎉

One of our recent private chef events took us on a trip to the Caribbean with a custom chef-curated plated dinner created specifically for the guest of honor. The evening began with our **Caribbean Shrimp Skewer** served over a fresh **Papaya-Mango Slaw** with crispy fried plantains, followed by a refreshing salad finished with our **house-made Citrus Rum Vinaigrette** *(no bottled dressings here!)*. The entrée featured **Jerk Chicken** and **Pan-Seared Red Snapper** topped with a fresh **Papaya, Mango & Pineapple Rum Salsa**, served alongside coconut rice and seasonal vegetables. One of the things we love most about what we do is that **no two events are ever the same**. Every menu is built around our clients' vision using the freshest ingredients available. We take the time to make our own dressings, vinaigrettes, sauces, desserts, and accompaniments completely from scratch. We don't believe in opening bottles or taking shortcuts—we believe those extra details are what separate a good meal from an unforgettable dining experience. Every component has a purpose because when all of those little details come together, they create something truly special.

People often ask where the name **Cranky Chef** came from. Our answer is simple... if your chef isn't just a little bit cranky by the end of the day, they probably didn't give **110%** to every detail of your event. Around here, being a little cranky simply means we obsessed over every sauce, every garnish, every plate, and every little detail to bring **your vision** to life.
