In 1972, the movie Marshal of Windy Hollow was being made in locations across the Windy Hollow area! The old Windy Hollow Country Store and Museum was converted to a saloon and gathering place for everyone!
At the end of the movie making, Hal bought old theater seat from Evansville and put them in the barn to make seating for showing of old movies! You can see the big screen in the photo!!
Soon after, Ray Wilson, the singing Sheriff and his posse (maybe not their names but should have been) helped start the Windy Hollow Jamboree in the converted barn!
This photo is an early shot of the band - Hal Riley on lead guitar - possibly the coolest human adult ever - as I thought of him as a kid! He wore a Mickey Mouse watch! I mean, come on, how cool is that!
The band also included Sam Mineer on banjo, Greg Wilson on bass, Gary Mineer on drums and also a steel guitar and fiddle. Can't have a real country music place without those playing!!! George Stokes may have also been playing piano!
The country music stayed until the 1980's!
So many great players and singers and country acts over the years. Thanks to all of them that made the place so great!
