This month, First Friday looks a little different — join us on Saturday, September 5th from 1–2:30pm as we welcome artist Jerry Shedden to SpellBound Books .

Jerry's story is one of true resilience. After being paralyzed in an automobile accident in 1978, he began painting with his mouth while recovering in rehab, introduced to the technique by his therapist. His talent and determination soon caught the attention of family and friends — and he didn't stop at painting. Jerry has continued fabricating by dictating directions to others, even designing a towbar to pull his mother's wheelchair behind his own for trips around Owego.

We're honored to host Jerry at this special time and share his inspiring story with our community. Through his art, he hopes to encourage and uplift others with disabilities, showing what's possible with creativity and determination.

Come by, say hello, and support a truly inspiring local artist. 🖼️
