Players Pizza employees summer party sponsored by so many since the fire occurred 3 weeks ago and doors are still locked by fire inspector so we could not get anything out for our employees summer party we were going to have in September. The ladies decided to have it anyway and I paid the rent they had the credit card but it turns out there was a lot of help from a lot of great people, customers and competitors, weā€™re all family and friendsā€”when we heard individuals and businesses had donated we thought maybe 7 or 8, then Diana saw the list šŸ˜³then today Mary read the list and it doubledšŸ˜³ itā€™s too much to type here but take a listen and Iā€™ll post more pictures later.

Now the not so good pictures, I wanted to put people at ease about the destruction of the first floor before I posted these photos of the fire cause area and the surrounding damage.

The Pepsi cooler in the waitress area is the tall cooler in the pictures, the hole in the ceiling is in the kitchen and waitress station areasā€”the burned hole in the wall is that was burning in my video when I was going down the hall to capture where the smoke was coming from on video for the fire dept. The Pepsi cooler was directly in front of the area burning inside of the wall. The garbage can and vent on the floor is where I pulled the garbage can out and the plume of smoke billowed out at me pretty thick after the grate was unblocked. By the time I got my phone back in my office to call 911 that smoke was much worse. That banging of the pipes on the inside of the wall had started.

Amazingly, the roof timbers/trusses are intact as you can see. Much of this can be restored, much of it needs to be rebuilt, so a hybrid rebuild is what weā€™re shooting for.

These are photos today of Players downstairs. Iā€™m going to fight like no other with the Insurance to renovate. They like to bulldoze and rebuild. Weā€™ll put the second story back up. Needs all the walls reboarded including ceilings and floor, new electrical. If I have to watch brick for brick, board for board and nail by nail weā€™ll put that place back together again!! Elvis got his hair wet but weā€™ll ask Maddy to give him a new doo!!

This is Tim Murray, I was not to talk to anyone until fire marshal was done and police have given custody of building back to Diana and myself. Cause of fire was found in a wall, believed to be electrical connection to our HVAC system. The insurance inspector will be there in morning to meet with authorities to see if they agree, Iā€™m not sure of the process.

The first floor is in tact, the roof is exposed for the kitchen and upstairs, but the party and game rooms are intact, the memorabilia on the walls are saved! Big part of that ambiance, the bar area will be restored and while it looks like a total loss, it can be savedā€” the kitchen needs to be replaced, not much can be done in there but that is because of the water damage but it should replaced in my view.

We were able to save all of the tills and atm money, we didnā€™t lose any of that. The basement had 6 feet of water to be pumped out, they estimated over 100,000 gallons of water pumped out.

The city of Oshkosh public works, Fire dept and police were phenomenal in their approach to the investigation.

The incredible thing is the customers who love the establishment and became our friends over the years proved that with our page getting blown up and phone going crazy as well. We own restaurant in 3 cities, Oshkosh, and Menominee and just having purchased but not closed on two restaurants in Marinette. All three cities have unbelievable patronage and today that was exemplified.

As for rebuilding ā€” that will happen, time frame canā€™t be estimated now as we had the devastation of Menasha tornado occur just 8 miles from the restaurant and contractors are busy. It will be better than ever with the same feel and vibe and I will attempt to pay every employee while the process is moving forward. Amazingly, some restaurants have reached out and offered to hire our people on a temporary basis and not poach our people so we can thrive again and thatā€™s what this community is all about! Diana and I are extremely grateful to everyone!!

Thank you all for showing concern and yes Players did have a fire. Everyone made it out ok and no one was injured. We will keep you updated as we know more but will be closed for the time being.
