Many of our customers and supporters have asked us recently about how the acquisition of City Center by the City of Oshkosh will impact us. The best answer I can give is that we don't know.

What I can tell you is that a significant shut down of the site would put most the businesses here out of business. I can also say that for many of us, moving our businesses would be cost prohibitive. In addition, since we have no idea about the redeveopment plans would be like, it would be uncertain if any of us could afford a large rent increase that would be more than likely.

It is my guess that much of this will be decided over a 1 to 6 year time frame. Just a guess.

The business owners here all want what's best for Oshkosh, especially the downtown. However, we also hope it does not crush decades of hard work, community involvment, charitable support for Oshkosh, and our livelihoods in the process.
