Fun Facts ~

Pepsi started back in 1893 under a very different name, Brad's Drink, named after its inventor Caleb Bradham. A few years later, it became Pepsi-Cola because people believed it could cure dyspepsia, which is just a fancy word for an upset stomach. The drink became a massive hit during the Great Depression when Pepsi smartly sold a huge 12-ounce bottle for just five cents, giving people twice as much soda as Coca-Cola for the exact same price. Decades later, Pepsi made history again through a wild trade deal with the Soviet Union, which briefly gave the soda company its own fleet of military warships and submarines..

THE SCOTCHMEN FUN FACT MINUTE

Today’s Bourbon: BUFFALO TRACE

Did you know?Buffalo Trace is made at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, which is considered one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in America.

Here’s the really cool part…

Buffalo Trace Bourbon gets its name from the historic buffalo paths that once crossed Kentucky! Those trails were used by buffalo and later became routes for early settlers traveling west.

Another fun fact: Buffalo Trace is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon, meaning it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels and meet specific requirements to legally carry that designation.

So the next time you see that famous buffalo on the bottle remember, there’s some Kentucky history behind it!

The Scotchmen Fun Fact Minute:
You may know the bourbon… but now you know the story!
