Haiti and Jamaica share a historical connection through Dutty Boukman, who had ties to Jamaica before becoming one of the figures associated with the beginning of the Haitian Revolution.

Haiti and the Dominican Republic also share the island of Hispaniola. The eastern Spanish-speaking side was historically known as Santo Domingo, and from 1822 to 1844, the entire island was governed under Haiti before the Dominican Republic became independent.
