A letter to our customers,

We opened almost five years ago, and it has been quite a journey with many ups and downs. First, I want to take the opportunity to thank all of our amazing customers who have shown us so much love and support over the years. I also want to express my utmost gratitude to our employees, both to those who have been with us for a long time and also to the newer ones who quickly became a part of the family. You guys are the most amazing people, and I couldn't have dreamed up a better team.

As you all know, this past week has been one of the most brutal weeks due to some team members testing positive for COVID, including my wife. Although all of our team recovered quickly, my wife, who worked with me at the restaurant six days a week for the past five years, had experienced some challenging symptoms and is still slowly recovering.

Everything changed so fast yet seemed to point in a single direction that was hard to ignore. There were an array of reasons that led us to make a tough decision, including the imminent renewal of our lease. Although the landlord has been flexible with us, we could not agree with our option to renew our lease. Thus, I am afraid to announce we have decided to close the business, effective immediately and permanently. We apologize to our caring customers for this short notice, and we hope you all understand. TMS is a small family business, and we tried as hard as possible to make it work for our team and our customers, but it ultimately became too difficult to maintain.

When our employees found out the news at our final team meeting, they were nothing but understanding and grateful. Although devastated by the unfortunate news, they still showed their true colors and incredible work ethic by finishing the week strong. Due to these great qualities of theirs, we were able to line up many of them with jobs after Too Much Sauce.

Also, I want to thank our landlords who have helped us and were very accommodating during this difficult time.

I deleted the previous post(see the post below), which some in our team suggested, and at the time, we thought it was appropriate. However, we never expected hundreds of very hateful comments- I deleted and blocked them from the page. They are part of a FB group from out of state, mainly from CA, TX, and NY, who advocate higher-paying jobs. They assumed that the team had just quit because they were underpaid. Most of my team members have worked with us for over three years. This hate group jumped to conclusions too fast and started attacking us. At the time, I didn't have enough information, but now I do, so here it is:

On Friday, one of my team tested positive for covid19; two others were not feeling well, and one called out sick. Later on Friday night, my wife and I started having covid19 symptoms. On Saturday, another team member and my wife, who works with me six days a week, got tested positive for covid19 as well. We currently have one of our team members on vacation and one who is out because her dad died.
For those of you who are part of the hate group advocate for change, you are trying to destroy this small business that is doing the right thing, and you might have just accomplished that.
