Ingredients
For the Sauce:
1 lb ground beef, pork, or turkey
3 tbsp Mima’s Sofrito
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
A pinch of salt (if needed, to taste)
For the Pasta:
1 lb durum wheat semolina spaghetti or linguine
---
Instructions
1. Cook the Pasta:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt and cook the spaghetti to al dente according to package instructions. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water before draining.
2. Prepare the Meat:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground meat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
3. Build the Sauce:
Add 3 tablespoons of Mima’s Sofrito to the skillet and stir it into the meat. Let it cook for 2 minutes to bring out the flavor.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and smoked paprika (if using). Simmer on low for 10-12 minutes until the sauce thickens.
4. Combine and Serve:
Toss the cooked pasta directly into the skillet with the sauce, stirring to coat. Add a splash of the reserved pasta water if the sauce is too thick.
Plate and serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.

Why It Works
Mima’s Sofrito brings all the garlic, onions, peppers, and spices you need, so you don’t have to. The crushed tomatoes and tomato paste give the sauce body, while a touch of smoked paprika adds depth without overpowering the flavors.
This is a meal you can enjoy any night—simple to make, satisfying to eat, and bursting with the bold, authentic taste of Mima’s kitchen.
