That delivers to the surrounding Orlando area. We also have a shipping option available. Our main goal is to create anything that a person can think up. We love to push the envelope on every creation and make flavors as well as decorations pop. There are a few specialty flavor cakes that were inspired by popular candy bars as well as traditional cakes. So if you have any questions please feel free

πŸ’ Wedding Wednesday: Does saying the word β€œwedding” make your cake cost more? πŸŽ‚

Believe it or not... with some businesses, it can. πŸ‘€ There really are businesses that price products or services differently simply because they're for a wedding.

But that's not how I price at Storybook Delights.

I've always believed that you should be able to order the exact same cake from me for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, Tuesday-because-you-wanted-cake πŸ˜‚ or ANY other celebration and be charged the same price for the same work. If a three-tier cake with a certain design, flavors and amount of detail costs $X, it shouldn't suddenly cost more because you tell me you're wearing a white dress while you cut it. πŸ˜‚πŸ’

What I DO love doing is figuring out how to bring your dream cake to life within your budget. Sometimes that means looking at an inspiration photo and figuring out which details matter most, where we can simplify something, or how we can get the overall look you're dreaming of without blowing the budget.

And one thing I'll almost always tell my couples? Focus on flavor before design. ❀️ Your cake should absolutely be beautifulβ€”I will always work to balance BOTHβ€”but at the end of the night, your guests are much more likely to remember that the cake tasted AMAZING than whether it had 37 sugar flowers instead of 27. πŸ˜‚

I want you to walk into your reception and love how your cake looks... and then have everyone go back for another piece because it tastes just as good as it looks. Beautiful cake AND delicious cake. You shouldn't have to choose. πŸŽ‚β€οΈ

Now, weddings can have additional costs when there are actually additional services involvedβ€”delivery and setup, specialty equipment, complicated structural work, fresh flower placement or other details that require additional time or supplies. Those things affect the price because there's additional work involved, not simply because you said β€œwedding.”

My pricing is based on what I'm making and what it takes to make itβ€”not what you're celebrating.

Because every dessert has a story... and I'd much rather help you tell yours within a budget you're comfortable with than charge you extra just because your story happens to include a walk down the aisle. πŸ’β€οΈ

Did you know β€œwedding pricing” was actually a thing? πŸ‘€

🍫 September Brownie of the Month has entered the chat... πŸ‘€

Meet Cookie Butter Crunch! πŸͺ❀️

September's Brownie of the Month starts with my fudgy chocolate brownie and gets loaded up with that warm, spiced cookie butter flavor. But where does the CRUNCH come from? πŸ‘€

Kataifi! It's the same crispy shredded pastry you've probably seen inside all those viral Dubai chocolate bars. Instead of pistachio, I'm pairing that crispy crunch with cookie butter for a completely different spin. πŸͺ

Chocolate + cookie butter + that crispy kataifi crunch... because apparently I can't just leave a brownie alone. πŸ˜‚

Cookie Butter Crunch is September's Brownie of the Month and you'll be able to find it on my shelf at The Makers Market & Farmacy while it lasts!

So I have to know... have you tried kataifi yet, or would this be your first introduction? πŸ‘€πŸ«

πŸ‚ September has officially hit the Farmacy shelf! 🍎

You guys have been keeping me BUSY at The Makers Market & Farmacy lately! ❀️ Things have been moving quickly enough that I've officially bumped myself up to TWO restocks a week to try to keep everything stocked. 😳 Not a bad problem to have!

And this week's first restock is bringing some serious fall vibes with it. πŸ‚ I'm adding Caramel Apple Cookiesβ€”one of my personal TOP cookies πŸŽβ€”along with Apple Pie Granola and Apple Pie Spice. Apparently September Ashlee understood the assignment. πŸ˜‚

Speaking of that Apple Pie Spice... here's your friendly small-business reminder about why we don't make labels late at night. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ Steve made these labels for me, I didn't catch the mistake, and neither of us noticed until they were already sitting ON THE SHELF. πŸ˜… So yes, I see it. No, that's not a new creative spelling. πŸ˜‚ Apparently quality control also needs a bedtime.

On the savory side, Cheese Crackers are back on the shelf too! πŸ§€

AND September means a brand-new Brownie of the Month. πŸ‘€πŸ« Cookie Butter Crunch has officially arrived! I'm not giving that one too much attention here, though, because it deserves its own introduction later. πŸ˜‚

And remember how I said TWO restocks a week? πŸ‘€ I'll be back Friday with another one, and I'm waiting on some ridiculously cute containers for the new Apple Cider Mix before it makes its debut. πŸŽβ˜• Because apparently the container has to be as cute as what's inside it. πŸ˜‚

September is starting off BUSY, and I couldn't be more grateful that you guys keep coming back to see what I put on that shelf. ❀️ Even when apparently some of the labels need a second look. πŸ˜‚

What are you grabbing first? πŸ‘€πŸŽπŸ«

πŸ‘€ Hello, September! πŸ‚

Does anyone else feel like Christmas is already peeking around the corner... or is that just me? πŸ˜‚πŸŽ„ And I mean that a little more literally than usual. Look closely at this picture... see them yet? πŸ‘€β˜ƒοΈ Yep. Those two little snowmen casually hanging out on top of my shelf at The Makers Market & Farmacy πŸ˜‚

I've officially started testing some of my holiday packaging! I brought these guys in to see how they'd look on my shelfβ€”and more importantly, whether you'd actually be able to SEE them from across the store. Apparently while everyone else is thinking apples, pumpkins and fall... part of my brain is already over here going, β€œBut what about HOT COCOA?!” πŸ˜‚

And before my non-local Delightfuls ask... YES, the Hot Cocoa Snowmen WILL be available for shipping! πŸ“¦β˜ƒοΈ More details on these little guys will come later.

But don't worryβ€”I am definitely NOT forgetting about my favorite fall flavors! πŸŽπŸŽƒ Florida weather may refuse to participate in fall, but Storybook doesn't have to. πŸ˜‚ There will be plenty of apple, pumpkin, cinnamon and all those warm, cozy flavors coming first. Christmas might be peeking around the corner... but fall gets its turn first. πŸ‚β€οΈ

For now, the snowmen are going back into hiding. β˜ƒοΈπŸ˜‚ But the important question... did YOU spot them before I pointed them out? πŸ‘€

πŸ§‚ Pantry Secrets: How old are the spices in your cabinet? πŸ‘€

Go ahead... think about it. πŸ˜‚ Because I'm willing to bet at least a few of us have a spice hiding in the back of the cabinet that has survived multiple pantry clean-outs and possibly several presidential administrations. 🀣

Here's the secret: most dried herbs and spices don't suddenly become unusable the second they hit a certain date, but they do lose their potency, aroma and flavor over time. So that cinnamon you've had forever might technically still be cinnamon... it's just not bringing much cinnamon to the party anymore. πŸ˜‚

One of the easiest ways to check? Smell it! Open the container and give it a sniff. If you have to practically stick your nose in the jar to smell anything, chances are it isn't adding much flavor to your food either. For whole spices, crush or rub a little first to release their aroma and then smell them.

And here's a bonus Pantry Secret: not every herb is at its best simply dried! 🌿 Delicate herbs like cilantro and mint can lose a lot of the fresh flavor that makes them so good during traditional drying. Freeze-drying can do a much better job of holding onto that fresh herb character, which is one of the things I pay attention to as I continue building my own Storybook Pantry Collection.

I'm not just looking at what herbs and spices I want to offerβ€”I'm looking at how they're preserved and what gives you the best flavor when you actually use them. Because if I'm going to put my name on a little jar of something, I want it to actually bring something to the food! πŸ˜‚

And with fall baking right around the corner, now is actually a great time to take a peek through that spice cabinet. πŸŽπŸŽƒ Fresh cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and other warm spices can make a HUGE difference in all those cozy fall recipes... and there may just be a few more Storybook spices joining the Pantry Collection soon. πŸ‘€

Now I need to know... what's the oldest spice hiding in YOUR cabinet? Bonus points if you're brave enough to tell me the expiration date. πŸ˜‚πŸ‘€

πŸ˜‚ Meme Monday: Small Business Owner Edition

I feel personally attacked by this one. 🀣

Apparently my brain believes bedtime is the PERFECT time to remember something I forgot to do, rethink something that was perfectly fine five minutes ago, or come up with an entirely new idea that absolutely cannot wait until morning.

And the β€œOh! New idea!” one is especially dangerous. That's how I end up with another product/flavor/post idea added to a list somewhere. πŸ˜‚

Any other small business owners suddenly become their most productive thinkers the second their head hits the pillow? πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

❀️ Meme Monday β€” but this one is a little less β€œmeme” and a little more true.

I saw this saying and had to make a Storybook version because THIS is what shopping small really looks like.

When you order from Storybook, buy something off my shelf at the Farmacy, stop by my booth at a market, or even recommend me to someone looking for desserts, you're supporting an actual family behind the business.

You're helping pay for the kiddos' activities, groceries, bills, family adventures... and you're helping turn another one of my β€œI have an idea!” moments into something that actually makes it onto the menu. πŸ˜‚

And it's not only Storybook. When you shop with the other vendors at markets, pick something up from another small business at the Farmacy, or choose a local maker instead of clicking β€œadd to cart” from a huge company, there's usually a real person doing a little happy dance on the other side of that sale.

Every purchase, share, comment, review and β€œI know someone who can make that!” matters more than you probably realize. ❀️

So this Meme Monday is your little reminder to shop small when you can. You're supporting a lot more than just a business. ❀️

πŸ˜‚ Meme Monday continues...

Wait... you mean owning a small business ISN'T just making fun things, setting your own hours and taking naps whenever you want?! 🀣

Someone really should have mentioned that in the brochure.

Although, to be fair... I don't think I've ever actually seen the brochure. πŸ˜‚

πŸ“š Everyone talks about their TBR β€” To Be Read pile... but does anyone else have a TBC β€” To Be Cooked list?! πŸ˜‚πŸ΄ Because mine is getting a little out of control.

If I'm not thinking about something for Storybook, figuring out what my kiddos are going to eat next, or trying to decide what's for dinner, I'm probably scrolling online and saving ANOTHER recipe or food idea that I absolutely need to make.

And sometimes the TBC list isn't even something new! Case in point: this tuna poke bowl. 🍣 I learned how to make things like this during my sushi days, started craving one, and finally checked it off my TBC list... again. πŸ˜‚

Have I made everything I've saved? Absolutely not. Will that stop me from adding another 37 things? Also absolutely not. 🀣 At this point, I basically have an imaginary cookbook of things I've said, β€œOooooh, I'm making that!”

Meanwhile, lunch occasionally gets remembered somewhere in between all of the above. πŸ˜‚

So forget a TBR pileβ€”I have a TBC list.

What's currently sitting on YOUR β€œTo Be Cooked” list? πŸ‘€πŸ΄

πŸŽπŸ‚ September is almost here...

Which means my brain has officially started making the switch from summer flavors to FALL!

I've been working on what I want to bring to The Makers Market & Farmacy for September, and there are definitely some apples, cinnamon, warm spices and cozy flavors headed your way. πŸ‘€

I'm not giving you the whole menu JUST yet, but September is going to bring some new treats along with a few additions to my Pantry Collection.

And yes... I'm fully aware that Florida will still feel like summer for approximately 47 more years. πŸ˜‚πŸŒ΄

Are you ready for fall flavors, or are you hanging onto summer as long as possible?

πŸ“Έ How's THIS for a throwback?!

With EFEO recently celebrating their 6-year anniversary, I went digging through some old posts and found my very first post in the group from September 4, 2020.

But the story actually starts a little BEFORE that...

When COVID shut everything down, I started making what I called my Quarantine Cakes. πŸŽ‚ They were little cakes that helped keep me busy during a very weird time when none of us really knew what was coming next.

An old chef and friend of mine ordered one of those cakes and told me, β€œYou need to post in this group I'm in.”

That group was EFEO.

So I joined, checked with an admin to make sure it was okay to share my business, and made the post you see in these screenshots.

Storybook Delights wasn't even Storybook Delights yet! I was still Any Occasions Cakes and Pastries by Ashlee, and apparently I had TWO side hustles because I was also making shirts and decals with my Cricut. πŸ˜‚

But my FAVORITE part of rereading this six years later?

I actually wrote:

β€œI have plenty of time!!”

🀣🀣🀣

Oh, 2020 Ashlee... if only you knew.

One little Quarantine Cake led to a recommendation from a friend, which led me to EFEO, which introduced my cakes to so many more people. It's kind of crazy looking back and realizing how one seemingly small thing can completely change the direction of a business.

Six years later, the name has changed, the business has changed, I've pivoted more times than I can count... and I definitely no longer have β€œplenty of time.” πŸ˜‚

But finding these pictures has me thinking about where that whole chapter started...

Should I bring the little Quarantine Cake concept back? πŸ‘€πŸŽ‚

Obviously they need a new name these days πŸ˜‚, but I would LOVE to know: Would you guys want to see these little cakes make a comeback?

πŸ“– Okay... random question for you guys.

I've been working on and tweaking a LOT of recipes lately, and it got me thinking...

Would anyone actually be interested in a Storybook Delights cookbook? πŸ‘€

And I wouldn't want it to be just desserts!

I've spent my career working in both pastry and savory kitchens, so I'd want to include a little bit of everything:

πŸͺ Sweet recipes
🍽️ Savory recipes
πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Chef tips & kitchen tricks
πŸ“– And probably some stories behind the recipes along the way

This is absolutely just an idea floating around in my head right now πŸ˜‚, but I'm curious...

Would you actually want something like this?

🍫 Fun Fact Friday!

Have you ever opened up a piece of chocolate and found a weird white or gray coating on it? Your first thought might be, β€œWell, that's bad.” 😬 But not necessarily!

What you're seeing is usually called chocolate bloom, and there are actually two different kinds.

🍫 Fat bloom can happen when chocolate gets too warm and the cocoa butter separates and recrystallizes on the surface.

🍫 Sugar bloom happens when moisture gets onto the chocolate, dissolves some of the sugar, and then leaves those little sugar crystals behind when it dries.

It might not look as pretty and the texture can change, but bloomed chocolate isn't automatically spoiled!

This is also one of the MANY reasons chocolate can be so temperamental to work withβ€”especially when you live in Florida. πŸ˜‚πŸŒ΄ Heat + humidity + chocolate = sometimes we're just asking for trouble. 🀣

Have you ever thrown away chocolate because you thought that white coating meant it had gone bad? πŸ‘€

πŸ“Έ Throwback Thursday!

Here's one from a completely different chapter of my culinary career...

My time as a sushi chef at Disney! 🍣

I wasn't completely happy with how the sashimi was being plated, and apparently you can take the girl out of pastry... but you can't take the pastry chef out of the girl. πŸ˜‚

So I decided to give it a little "pastry flair."

Instead of simply laying out the slices of sashimi, I started arranging them into roses. 🌹

And honestly, that's one of the things I love about having worked in both pastry AND savory kitchens. Techniques and ideas don't always have to stay in the little box where you originally learned them.

Sometimes something you learned in pastry ends up influencing how you plate fish. πŸ˜‚

Also, please excuse the photo quality. 🀣 I don't currently own a scanner, so until I decide whether I need to invest in one, you're basically getting...

a picture of a picture... of a picture. πŸ˜‚πŸ“Έ

I recently found my old culinary school portfolio along with photos from different parts of my culinary career, so I think Throwback Thursday may need to become part of the rotation for a little while.

There's quite a bit buried in those archives. πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚
