IT TRULY TOOK A VILLAGE ❤️
I’ve been working with this bride since February, planning all the details for her special day. Never in a million years did I imagine that just a couple of weeks before her wedding I would have an accident, fracture my hip, have emergency surgery, and suddenly be unable to walk.
After months of planning together, I just couldn’t imagine letting her down at the last minute. I had made a commitment to her, and I was determined to see it through—but I quickly realized there was absolutely no way I could do it alone.
And that’s when my village stepped in. ❤️
Today’s wedding is complete, and I honestly could not have done it without the incredible people who stepped up and literally carried me through these past couple of weeks.
Recovering from hip surgery has been much harder physically than I expected. There has been a lot of pain, frustration, a few tears—and yes, probably a little whining too! 😂 But with the help of some pretty amazing people, we made sure this bride’s wedding cheesecakes were everything they were supposed to be.
I am so thankful for my family, my friend Terry, who picked me up, drove me to the bakery, my intern Dawn helped me bake, my hubby who carried things, dropped my wheelchair off in the mornings and picked it up after work, friends who brought food, checked on me, and did all the things I simply couldn’t do myself. My friend Lynn even went to the venue and set up the entire cheesecake table so I wouldn’t have to worry about it. ❤️
And to everyone who offered to help carry everything into the venue today, THANK YOU. When you suddenly can’t do the things you’ve always done for yourself, you realize just how blessed you are to have people willing to become your hands and feet when you need them.
Most of all, thank you for every prayer. 🙏 I have felt every bit of the love and encouragement surrounding me.
These past couple of weeks haven’t been easy, but WE DID IT! The wedding is complete, my commitment was fulfilled, and now this stubborn baker can finally REST! 😂❤️
Now I can put my focus where it needs to be—rest, healing and physical therapy so I can get stronger and get back to doing what I love at Debi’s Cheesecakes.
I am beyond grateful. Sometimes it really does take a village…and I have one amazing village. ❤️🙏
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! ❤️ debischeesecakes.com
