Such kind words! We’re so grateful for the love and support from our community. 🤍
Shannon has poured so much into Bread & Butter, and we’re incredibly proud of what she and Keith are both bringing to Onancock and the Eastern Shore.
Thank you, Lady W., for the sweet feature! Thank you to everyone who continues to support local, cheer us on, and grow with us. It truly means more than you know!
Here’s to keeping Onancock in good taste. 😉
Dear Readers,
Every so often, a story comes along that is far more interesting than the little bit of online shade surrounding it.
Because while a few keyboards have been busy questioning what will work, what will last, and who might be going where, something much more exciting has been happening in Onancock.
The Andes siblings are making waves.
Shannon Andes, through Bread & Butter, has brought an upscale dining experience to town without making it feel stiff or inaccessible. Thoughtful food, cocktails, atmosphere, and a willingness to keep experimenting with new ideas have helped give Onancock another reason to dress up a little, linger a little longer, and perhaps order that second espresso martini.
Then there is her brother, Keith Andes, behind Driftwood & Moss, bringing his own creative eye to the Shore through design, décor, and a style that feels polished while still belonging here.
Two siblings. Two businesses. Two very different creative lanes.
And yet together, they are helping shape the way Onancock looks, tastes, and feels.
That is worth celebrating.
The Eastern Shore talks often about wanting younger entrepreneurs, fresh ideas, beautiful spaces, better dining, and people willing to invest their energy here. Then, occasionally, when someone actually does exactly that, the online jealousy begins to flutter around the edges.
How predictable.
Success in a small town has always attracted commentary. But perhaps instead of wondering when someone will fail, leave, or scale back, we might occasionally appreciate the people willing to take the risk in the first place.
Shannon says she is putting down roots here. Keith has made clear that he and his partner plan to remain on the Shore as well.
Good.
Because Onancock could use more people willing to imagine what it might become instead of only reminiscing about what it used to be.
And if the Andes siblings keep going at this pace, Dear Readers, we may all have to get accustomed to something rather dangerous around here:
taste.
Yours in observation,
Lady W.
