Thirsty Thursday is BACK and that means WE are back! That's right after a couple days of rest, a few hundred miles tracking down supplies and realizing "there just isn't enough money in our bank account to take 3 months off"🤣 we are back!!!
As we head into the back half of June, we're NOT even close to being done with "kickball!" That's right the FIFA World Cup continues, and the excitement just keeps coming as 8 countries take the "pitch" and battle to advance to "the round of 32" (holy crap after 16 days and 72 matches there will STILL be 32 teams in this tournament??? Even MLB players are thinking "that's to many games!"😆)
We will be opening at 1pm today and we will join the action of game 2 as team Switzerland takes on team Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We will have our Early Bird menu available today from open-3pm. I am sure that I read chicken nuggets are one of the traditional meals of Soccer fans across the globe!😎
At 3pm we switch to our regular special and the main event of today's matches as the heavily favored team Canada (aka; America's hat) takes on team Qatar........judging by the odds, this may be the first time some of team Qatar have actually seen a soccer ball😂
For our regular special we are taking a menu classic, the Mushroom Swiss Burger and elevating it to new heights. Today we are serving up the grilled Portabella and Swiss Burger. We start with a 9 ounce hand pressed Chuck Patty seasoned and grilled to order. Each patty is topped with grilled onion, thick slices of grilled Portabella Mushrooms and topped with 2 slices of REAL Swiss Cheese. Your burger is served on a toasted Pub Bun with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Served with fries for just $14.
Finally, so I can pretend that anyone reading this actually is following the FIFA games, our final match of the day gets underway at 6pm with team Mexico taking on the Kimchi fueled team of South Korea! (If I am reading this $% #^% correctly, the games are NOW "win or go home," but I 100% could be reading it wrong🤔)

Happy evening friends. I sure hope this finds you all well. I've been working on something awhile. Often, things take time, after all even though the bagel was created in the 16th century it wasn't until 1980 that some fella made the "everything bagel."
Heck, the first cell phone was built in 1973 ("it's true, you can look it up") and we didn't get an I-Phone until 2007 (and a new one every 13 weeks since🤣). Even the mighty jalapeno popper went from 1985 basically unchanged before some Texas genius created the Texas Tw***ie in 2014!!!
Basically, it can take a while before things "evolve". Well, I am planning on introducing something EPIC later this week........"and it isn't a new phone!!!!"

Not all shopping days are created equal, and to be honest my "inner slacker" tried REAL HARD to get me to skip it. Now that I am back and I have everything unloaded, I can say I am VERY happy I went. I "think" I have most of the week's menu (aka; specials) figured out. While I have NO intention of revealing them all, I did want to give y'all the broad strokes for Sunday's Father's Day special. Again, "assuming nothing goes wrong" we will be rolling smoke with the Beast as we prepare some Baby Back Ribs! I wanted to give "dad" a little something extra, so we are hoping to do a big batch of Mac and Cheese. Add in some corn on the cob and maybe a biscuit and I "think" we might have a winner!!!

We are still finalizing this event on July 4th. Following the downtown parade in Centralia, stop by with your family and join us for live music and free food. Numerous service organizations will be on site as well. We are finalizing them. More information to come.

Happy Tuesday my friends. I'd be lying if I said I "don't look forward to EVERY Monday," but yesterday was JUST what the doctor ordered. Other than a little paperwork and some banking, I didn't do $ #!+ Heck I never even put long pants on, just shorts and a T-shirt. Pretty good day for this fella! Sadly, all good things come to an end, and it is time to get on the road and figure out the week to come. Especially with Father's Day fast approaching. "Hopefully I can find some great special, for dad to read about before y'all make him fire up the grill and cook for YOU on his DAY!"🤣
We did get some EXTREMELY valuable information from Sunday and Monday in regard to the HEAT and how we will be dealing with it this Summer. We are lowering our threshold for closures from 95* to 93*. Even with none of our commercial appliances turned on, the 93+ temps caused some disruptions. It is just too hard on equipment and on a grumpy old cook. Plus, it is difficult on our customers. The old girl just wasn't built to handle the heat (again that is the BAR, not the BARTENDER😎).
On the days we hit the upper 80's (85+) we will make adjustments as needed. Later openings, limited menus etc. We have always tried to work around the heat (thankfully we don't have many days each summer to deal with) but it is MUCH easier now that we have some great local options available on those few days we don't answer the bell.

What a night! Yesterday was a PERFECT end to an absolutely AMAZING week. I was a little nervous ahead of our "FUN-draising" event. There is always (at least for me) self-doubt as we take these on. It takes a lot of effort and there is always plenty of opportunity to fail. Add in extremely hot weather and the busy grind of a summer weekend and I get as nervous than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. When the dust settled, the smoke cleared and Cerberus and the Beast slowly cooled, I would call it a HUGE success. We grilled up 72 dogs, 80 POUNDS of chicken and Lord knows how many gallons of stuffing, potatoes and gravy. We had a fantastic turnout, and I got to visit with some good friends. Most importantly YOU and this AMAZING community did it again! I stayed pretty busy with the grill until the last birds were cooked, so I don't have the exact dollar amount raised, but I heard YOU blessed these young boys with nearly $1500!!!! Hopefully that will go a long way as they travel and enjoy some summer BASEBALL!!!
Thank you ALL for your amazing support!

"On a side note, I can confidently say we will NOT see Cerberus fired up on any days in the nineties again.......holy crap it was HOT!!!"
There was actually a short time where I thought, I might not be able to push through. I was feeling a little lightheaded from intense heat, but some Liquid IV, a cold water and a little help from the Good Lord, I got a second wind. Now it is time for a MUCH needed day off, a little shopping and see what we can come up with for next week😎
