Greetings from ~The Great Beyond~

How is everyone doing? Have you found a new favorite shop to hang out at? Or a new favorite shop to drink coffee at? We hope you’re getting settled wherever you’ve landed. We sure miss you!

We’re here to humbly ask you a favor: will you *pretty please with a coffee cherry on top* help us empty the online store? We’ve tallied up the remaining merch and coffee and if we *sell out* of everything, we’ll be able to finish paying vendors AND take our old staff out for a last BS hurrah! There’s ~sTeEp DiScOuNtS~ on every item; frisbees are ONLY $2.50 so get ‘em while they’re HOT.

The support you showed Bad Seed during our last few weeks was mind blowing. September was our busiest month this year and we were only open 10 days! In the final 2 weeks you tipped our staff an incredible $7000!!! (Yes it was absolutely *delightful* to put on their final paychecks.) We’ve also been able to pay down more than half of our vendor balances, but we really need this final push to get all the way there! The link is in our bio - orders will ship out starting 10/8.

In 2015 we unlocked the doors as Muglife Coffee on February 1st. Then in March we had our ~Grand Opening~ on Friday the 13th. I *live* for synchronicities; closing our business on the 13th this week is another one of those delicious full circle moments. AND the little sprinkles on top is that next month is me and Matt’s 13th wedding anniversary. Another fun one is that closing this Saturday means we made it exactly 10 and a HALF years. So now for the rest of my life I can boldly say “we were open for ~over~ 10 years” and sound much more impressive than just “10 years” 💅
(no one pay attention that this also means our 2nd location will be just 5 days shy of only being open a year 🥴)

In all seriousness: words can’t describe what this last year has been like for us, and our employees for that matter. I am simply awestruck when I look back at it. Recovering from closing is going to be a looong road. We are wildly grateful for all of you, because as I’ve said a few times now: this whole “thing” is a two-way street / if a tree falls in a forest / symbiotic type of situation. What else can we say but thank you??? Thank you!

IT’S THE FINAL BS COUNTDOWN

By now you know we’re closing after 10 (and a proud half) years. If you missed the juicy details, check the pinned post! The last day our shops will be open is Saturday September 13th It is *terribly important* to us to provide our staff with a proper severance and to settle our balances owed to local vendors. The online store is now stuffed full of BS merch and the LAST 800LBS OF BAD SEED COFFEE AVAILABLE. Shipping and local pick up are both available - it’s first come first serve though so whatever doesn’t sell online is getting stocked in the shops for our final weekend.

We’ve had our ever so grateful asses handed to us the last couple of weeks. Please, please hand them to us even more in the next 5 days.

Endearing story time: As many of you know, Matt and I met while both working at Star*ucks and got married at Caffeine Dreams (rip) on a Thursday in October 2 years later. While working at SB I was lucky enough to meet the magical and she ended up being our wedding photographer along with her bff
Since opening Bad Seed in 2015, we’ve employed 5 former Caffeine Dreams (rip) baristas so being here at the end of ~things~ and having Josh photograph this significant moment in our life and in our shop feels deliciously like full circle, serendipitous, meant-to-be kismet.

Much like wedding photos, we’ll have these pictures of the shops filled with people we know and love to look at for the rest of our lives. Please come partake in the specialness of it all and get your full fill of our BS while you can ❤️

Bad news for good people:
After 10 and a half years - Bad Seed is closing!

We’ll be open through September 13th or ~while~ supplies last.

We’ve faced giant globs of BS this last year and there’s a lot that has led up to our closure that we can’t speak to here. There will be plenty of posts to come celebrating all we’ve accomplished in 10 years and the exceptionally special spaces our staff and all of you have created. Bad Seed is one of those things that manages to be greater than the sum of its parts, ya know?

We love you all and hope you’ll show up the next couple of weeks to soak it all in.

BS1 is closed on Tuesday 7/22/25!!

We’ll be giving the shop a lil’ refresh with our buddies and we’re gonna need to make a couple of messes to do it right.

BS2 will be open regular hours 8am - 6pm so make your way there instead! If you haven’t been yet: it’s at 5015 Dodge St with and there’s a parking lot + street parking on 50th Ave.

Matt’s been roasting up some extra special coffee this week. This honey processed Chinese coffee from the Yiwu Xishuangbanna region is deliciously sweet and juicy. Supply is limited, so come visit us at the Kellogg location this weekend and grab yourself a bag before it’s all gone!
