St. John Vianney Winter Rub BBQ contest, the BBQ gods again showed us mercy, this is the third year in a row the sun was shining and temps were in the 50's! Considering Monday it snowed 4" and was as cold as hell we will take it!
Non-traditional contest cooking three meats chicken, ribs, and sausage. We ended up 3rd in ribs and 7th overall, not bad for just knocking the rust off the smoker!

Well BBQ fans we cooked at the American Royal, World Series of Barbecue over Labor Day weekend at the Kansas Speedway in KC, Kansas.
There were two contests and we competed in both the Invitational on Saturday and the Open on Sunday.
It was an experience like none other!!!
The Invitational was made up of 129 teams from around the country who had all won a Grand Championship within the past year and the Open was all of the Invitational teams plus anyone who wanted to throw their hat in the ring for a total of 403 teams!!!
Day 1 we had a solid cook that landed us in the top 40% of teams competing and Day 2 we landed in the top 25% of the teams! While it's always nice to win we feel good about our results.
BBQ competitions are about more than just the cook, but they are about the people you meet and the friendships you forge on the journey!
Hats off to Clark Crew BBQ on their Invitational GC and Porky Butts BBQ for their Open GC!

BBQ fans it was a great day for BBQ!
Riverfest in Bellevue,NE hosted 46 teams and it was 120 degrees in the shade on Friday!
For those of you that don't know the BBQ program we always cook chicken, ribs, pork shoulder, & brisket.
The Food Network was at the competition filming the event following around some of the top teams in the country, pretty cool!
Here is how it all shook out for us:
1st place in pork!
4th place in brisket!
6th overall out of 46 teams!

Here we go folks Wet Wood Smoke Shack is kicking off the 2016 BBQ season this weekend at BBQ in the Bluffs in Council Bluffs, IA on the riverfront by Harrah's! If you have nothing going on Saturday come on over to the event as there will be vendors, beer, & fun, typically the crowds show up from noon to 7pm.
