It has been three weeks and I still don’t think there are words for the fire that took out three staple businesses that have been part of this community for decades.
I’ve worked in and loved Olmsted Falls for over 20 years, and you can’t spend that much time here without becoming attached to places like Falls Family Restaurant, Keith Jewelers, and The Eye Place.
I’ve eaten more chicken bacon melts than I could ever count, and nobody made a better Belgian waffle. Billy made sure my late grandmother’s bracelet would never be lost, by adding a security chain to the clasp. And Scott became much more than just my eye doctor over the years. He became a friend. He has also been one of the biggest and loudest supporters of Falls Ice Cream during the past 3½ years since my husband and I took over.
Because of that, we want to show up for everyone affected by this horrible fire. Starting today, there will be a donation bucket at Falls Ice Cream where anyone can contribute whatever they are able to give. Falls Ice Cream will also match donations up to $500.
To everyone at Falls Family Restaurant, Keith Jewelers, and The Eye Place, we are deeply sorry for your losses and everything you are going through right now. This community loves you, and we are all rooting for your return.
And when you reopen, I’ll happily fight through the crowds to get in the door.
Love & Prayers,
Shannon, Robb & your Falls Ice Cream family
