October 4th will never be just another day to me.
Today is the birthday of the two most important women in my life—my wife Angie and my mom.
For as long as I can remember, this day meant celebrating both of them. This year, for the first time, I only get to hug one.
Mom, I still catch myself wanting to call you. I talked to you damn near every day of my life, and I don't think I'll ever get used to a world where I can't pick up the phone and hear your voice.
I'd give anything for one more birthday with you. One more hug. One more conversation. One more chance to tell you I love you.
And Angie—somehow on a day that hurts this much, I also get to celebrate you.
You've stood beside me through one of the hardest times of my life. You've loved me when I was hurting, let me grieve when I needed to grieve, and you've simply been there.
I don't take that for granted.
So today I'm celebrating the woman I get to hold, while missing the woman I wish I could hold one more time.
Happy Birthday, Angie Mendez I love you.
And Happy Birthday, Priscilla Spencer I love you and miss you.
I hope wherever you are, they're making a big fu***ng deal about you today.
I miss you every single day. ❤️
