So I thought it might be fun to kick things up a notch with a new series.

Today is a significant date in Oklahoma history because it marks the beginning of a journey that would make this Oklahoman one of the most famous aviators in the world. ✈️🌎

On this day in 1931, he and his navigator climbed into an airplane and set off on a trip around the globe. Eight days, fifteen hours, and fifty-one minutes later, they returned after setting a new around-the-world flight record.

Now, that may not sound quite as impressive in an era when you can fly across the country while watching Netflix and eating tiny pretzels…

But in 1931?

It was a remarkable achievement that captured the attention of people around the world and helped push aviation into a new era.

And he wasn’t finished yet.

Just two years later, he became the first person to fly solo around the world, proving that some people simply aren’t wired to think small.

Today, he is remembered not only as a record-breaking pilot, but as a symbol of courage, innovation, determination, and the adventurous spirit that has always been part of Oklahoma’s story.

I get a lot of messages from other bakers, and before we start, I want to say something.

There is no competition, guys. ❤️

You do not have to start a message by apologizing for asking a question.

I have several baking friends locally. Like… super locally. Like “I could throw a cookie and hit a couple of them in the head” locally. 😆

We help each other, cheer each other on, share ideas, and occasionally text each other in full panic mode when something goes wrong. And I think at some point, we’ve all saved each other’s bacon a time or two. 🤣

So if you’ve ever wanted to ask me something, it’s okay. I promise. My snarkiness is reserved exclusively for internet bullies. 😌

Do you teach classes?

I have in the past.

Right now, between custom orders, parties, events, and everything else I have going on, I don’t feel like I could dedicate the time needed to give you guys the attention y’all deserve.

I never want to offer something unless I can do it well, so classes are on pause for now.

But I have definitely noticed how many people are asking, and I’ll keep it in mind for the future. ❤️

How do you turn out orders so quickly?

I think this one comes from watching me flip some of those Thunder sets in less than 24 hours. 😅

The answer is honestly pretty simple:

Organization.
Boundaries.
A solid plan.
And the right equipment.

That’s really it.

After the weather Oklahoma experienced last night, choosing today’s Famous Oklahoman felt pretty easy.

Before we start today’s Famous Oklahoman, there’s a few things you should know about me.

I am not nearly as cool as she is.

I’m what you might call a fake Oklahoman. I do not do slimy, creepy, crawly, bitey, stingy, or otherwise questionable critters. Nope. Absolutely not. 🙂‍↔️

Meanwhile, she *casually* shared a video of herself catching a catfish with her bare hands.

A CATFISH.

WITH HER BARE HANDS, Y’ALL.

I would have simply accepted defeat and let the fish win. ..Who am I kidding? I wouldn’t have put my hand in the hole in the first place. 😭

If you live in Oklahoma, chances are you’ve spent at least one late night watching her calmly guide people through severe weather while the rest of us are stress-eating snacks and questioning our life choices.

She somehow manages to stay calm when tornadoes are popping up across the state, explain complicated weather in a way everyone can understand, and keep viewers informed without adding to the panic.

And can we talk about her working alongside David Payne? We all love Mr. Payne, but let’s be honest… that weather coverage can get a little energetic. 🤣 She handles it like an absolute boss every single time.

She’s knowledgeable, steady, passionate about Oklahoma, and genuinely cares about keeping Oklahomans safe.

So, I think it’s only fair to give some well-deserved recognition to a local legend who spends countless hours helping Oklahoma families make it through nights exactly like the one we just had.

And apparently catches fish with her bare hands for fun.

Which is honestly enough to qualify her as a Famous Oklahoman all by itself. 🤯❤️

I know.
I’m breaking my “no favorites” jersey order rule.
But today isn’t about jersey numbers.

Today is about saying thank you to a player who became family. 💙⚡

Aaron Wiggins arrived in Oklahoma as a second-round draft pick and quietly became one of the most beloved players to ever wear a Thunder jersey. He never demanded the spotlight. He just showed up, worked hard, stayed humble, and made the most of every opportunity he was given.

When the Thunder won the championship, his speech reminded all of us exactly who he is. He spoke with gratitude, heart, and genuine appreciation for the people around him. It wasn’t about himself. It was about his teammates, the organization, and the community that supported them.

That’s Aaron Wiggins.

A great basketball player, yes.

But an even better person.

The reality of sports is that players come and go. Trades happen. Business decisions get made. But some players leave a mark that lasts long after they leave the roster.

Aaron is one of those players.

No matter where his career takes him next, Oklahoma will be cheering for him.

Thunder fans will always consider him one of ours.

And if he ever comes back to Oklahoma, I have a feeling he’ll be welcomed home exactly the way family should be.

I looked into the Thunder trades today.

My professional analysis is that Aaron Wiggins being traded is sad. 💔

My secondary analysis is that Sam Presti has earned the right to ignore my opinion…

…and yours. ☕️

EDIT: After reading a lot of posts this morning 🙄, I wanted to add a little perspective.

As fans, it’s completely normal to feel heartbroken. We get attached to these players, cheer for them, celebrate their successes, and feel disappointed when they’re no longer part of our team.

But these players are also real people with real careers, goals, and dreams.

Aaron Wiggins deserves the king treatment. 👑 He’s put in the work, stayed humble, and made the most of every opportunity he’s been given. As much as I’ll miss seeing him in a Thunder jersey, I truly hope this is his chance to shine and that his new team recognizes exactly what they have in him. 💙⚡

It’s okay to be sad he’s leaving, but I think Thunder fans should be happy for him too. This is exactly the kind of opportunity a player works for.

At the end of the day, I don’t just want what’s best for the Thunder. I want what’s best for Aaron Wiggins, too. ❤️

I mean, it could be worse.

Today’s Famous Oklahoman is a local legend.

A man who dedicated decades of his life to helping protect Oklahoma families during some of our worst storms.

Long before weather apps, push notifications, and everyone carrying a radar in their pocket, Oklahomans trusted one man and a radar map.

For many of us, hearing his voice meant it was time to stop what we were doing and pay attention.

He guided Oklahomans through tornado outbreaks, severe weather, and countless long nights when the sky wasn’t exactly cooperating.

But somewhere along the way, he became more than a meteorologist.

He became a trusted voice.
A familiar face.
A piece of Oklahoma history.

And here’s a fun little fact: we actually share a birthday. 🎉

I also have to admit I’m a little appalled that nobody mentioned him when I asked for Famous Oklahoman suggestions. 😭
