A tricycle rider, Yaw Afriyie AKA Batman has killed his wife and six children after setting them ablaze at Breman-Dunkwa in the Central Region.

According to reports, Afriyie is alleged to have committed the act following a misunderstanding with his wife.

At around 12am on October 31, 2025, the tricycle rider is reported to have asked his wife to check up on their children who were asleep.
After she entered the room, he is alleged to have poured petrol on his wife and the children including his grandchild, locked the door and lit them up in flames.

Afriyie reportedly committed su***de by hanging himself after the act.
What sort of misunderstanding will push you to commit such an atrocious act?

WHY KROBOS DONT EAT SNAILS AND ALSO RATS

History serves a very important purpose. It gives vivid narratives of events of the past, and generations untold are able to learn what they wouldn't have otherwise known.

It is a taboo for Krobos to eat snails (called ''Ahua'') and rat (called ''Jesi'') due to the following reasons:

SNAIL (AHUA)

1. For snails, it is said that they were often found in the sacred grove of Naana Klowɛki and so they were considered as food of the gods.

2. Again, snails move about the surface of the earth with its foot. This foot is the very meat that is eaten. Krobos believe that, no matter how you wash the foot it cannot be clean enough to be eaten, since in the process of its movements, the foot comes into contact with faecal matter on the ground, urine, dirty and contaminated surfaces.

RAT (JESI)

For rat, it was the case that as Krobos buried their dead relatives in the caves whiles on the Krobo mountain, they often see rats entering those spaces and held the belief that rats fed on the remains of their deceased loved ones. They therefore did not consider rats clean enough for human consumption.
