The time has come to select some winners of our 11th Annual Apple of our Eye Teacher Appreciation Contest. Beginning on Monday, May 4th, you have submitted countless stories highlighting the efforts of our amazing educators! We have loved reading about each one and sharing them for everyone else to read.

We have collected each name and randomly entered them into a random name selector to pick 5 lucky winners for some sweet treats on the Custard King Family! Here we go....

Well, our final day has come to a close and our Apple of our Eye Teacher Appreciation Contest has come to an end. Before we share some sweet news about the winners of our giveaways, here is a recap of our Day 5 nomination stories.

Our final nomination story is a trio of HEROES in our book! Allow us to bring you to Upper Township Preschool Program. They are otherwise known as the preschool teaching team of Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Leypoldt, and Mrs. O!

Our family would like to share, "For the past 2.5 years, this incredible preschool teaching team has helped shape not only our son’s education, but also his confidence, independence, and joy for learning. Their classroom has always been so much more than a place to learn letters, numbers, and routines — it has been a place where every child is valued, respected, included, and truly known.

What stands out most is the genuine care and dedication they pour into each and every child. They recognize that every student learns differently, grows at their own pace, and deserves to have their voice heard. Their commitment to inclusiveness and creating a classroom community where everyone belongs is something truly special. Every child feels important there, and that kind of environment changes lives.

Because of their patience, encouragement, creativity, and unwavering belief in him, our son has made incredible progress over the last 2.5 years. We have watched him grow academically, socially, emotionally, and personally in ways we could have only hoped for. They celebrated every "inchstone", supported every challenge, and never stopped believing in what he was capable of achieving.

Teachers like this leave a lasting impact not only on their students, but on entire families. We will forever be grateful for the love, guidance, and compassion they have shown our son. Thank you for creating a classroom filled with kindness, curiosity, acceptance, and joy. The difference you have made in his life will stay with us forever."

Our next nominee for the Apple of Our Eye Teacher Appreciation Contest comes to us from the 5th grade at Sandman Consolidated School in Cape May. We present Ms. Kimberly Osmundsen!

Zackary and family said, "Ms. Osmundsen has been an amazing teacher this year and for the last several years at this school. She makes learning fun and the kids look forward to spending the day with her. She’s pushed them in all the right ways and truly cares about them in and out of the classroom. We are blessed to have her!"

Thank you to Zackary for sharing this story. We appreciate you and applaud Ms. Osmundsen for going the extra mile to make sure her students get what they need to succeed!

Are you ready for a mid afternoon pick me up? Well look no further than this educator. She was nominated not once, not twice, but FIVE times for our Apple of our Eye Teacher Appreciation Contest. This has to be a new record. Presenting Mrs. Tomlin from Dennis Township Kindergarten.

Layla shared, "She has taught Layla so much within this short year and involves every student in each activity."

Marta shared, "Por su dedicación a su trabajo y su esmero a nuestros niños (For your dedication to your work and your devotion to our children).

Mason and family shared, "Mrs. Tomlin is an amazing teacher. She is so great with her students and it truly shows how much they love her. Mason loves going to school everyday and he always talks about the fun and exciting things he does in class. We are beyond appreciative for all of your hard work and dedication Mrs. Tomlin!"

Willow and family shared, "She is patient, caring, and always finds ways to make learning fun and engaging. My daughter comes home happy and excited to share what she learned each day, which speaks volumes about the environment her teacher creates in the classroom."

Tessa and family shared, "We have known Mrs. Tomlin when she was an aide in our oldest classroom last year. We were thrilled to hear she got the Kindergarten teaching job and even more excited Tessa was picked for her class! She is amazing! You would think she's been doing it for years! Tessa says, "I love Miss Tomlin, she helps me and teaches me stuff. It's fun in her class!" Thank you Mrs. Tomlin for all that you do!"

Our lunchbreak nominee for the last day of our Apple of our Eye Teacher Appreciation contest is no stranger to this Contest. In fact, we checked....she has been nominated every year we have held this contest. That means this teacher has been so impactful that she has ranked among the best of the best for 11 years running here at Custard King. From Dennis Township Primary School 1st grade, we present, Mrs. Kasey Eykyn!

The Vance Family shared, "Ms Eykyn gives so much patience and kindness towards not only her students, but everyone she is in contact with. She is the one teacher you hope your child has the opportunity to have so you get to share a year with her. We will miss her when we move on to 2nd grade!"

Darcey and family shared, "We hit the jackpot when we got Mrs. Eykyn for a teacher this year! She goes above and beyond for her students and makes learning fun. Darcey says, "Mrs Eykyn is really nice and kind. She is super pretty and helps me learn."

To know Mrs. Eykyn is to love her.....thank you for submitting her so we can continue to share what a remarkable teacher she is! Thank you, Mrs. Eykyn!

Our second nomination for the Apple of our Eye Teacher Appreciation Contest is about a professional who might have one of the most important jobs in the world! She works tirelessly everyday of her career to give the gift of communication to her students. From both Ocean City High School and Ocean City Intermediate School (because this is the true life of an SLP), we present speech-language pathologist, Mrs. Kathy Yates!

Her nomination story is simple, but sums up her power, "Best speech teacher ever!!"

We witness the talent and skill that Mrs. Yates has each day and she truly works for the best interest of each of her students. She is thoughtful in planning and does an excellent job individualizing each student's goals. Simply put, she recognizes the best in each of her students and works hard for them to see it, too! Way to go Mrs. Yates!

When we decide to send our youngest children into the care of other adults, we worry and deliberate what environment would be best. For this Mom and her son, there was no better choice than the Learning Garden Toddler Room. We present Ms. Emily, Ms. Jess, and Ms Kristin.
