Hello all!! What a fantastic community! We celebrated our 7th year here in on the 19th of July, first as the Shack (on Mill) and then as the Cafe ( on Commerce). We love you dearly.
After two huge weekends in a row with many big events coming up as well, it is a reminder to me that we only have so much capacity. With only 6 two top tables inside. and a few two tops outside, limited space requires kindness and awarenes.. We have no "back room" or kitchen behind a mysterious wall. You see everything! Most our staff are young kids in their first jobs or going back to college and school and have become like family. I am mentoring them to be great citizens and training all the time. The phone rings off the hook on the weekends and we can't pick up, which is an indicator, we need time, as the line for ordering is out the door and on the porch. (No, we will not subscribe to third party ordering/delivery. We only make what we can manage)
THANK YOU for believing in this small (very) women owned, family business. We appreciate your love and understanding when we sell out and when we make substitutions and when we have worked 16 hours straight and still need to clean up. We may not be as spunky as you would expect. Some times our suppliers have fires or other unexpected issues that make it hard for us to provide the items you are used to getting. Some times, we make mistakes or the order isn't up to our standards but we try. Just let us know before sounding off to the big wide world. We are always happy to accommodate.
You are why we do what we do and keep it fresh and custom. When you are not a big chain business, customer experience and your words mean the most. Of course, we have THE BEST staff, who care deeply about your time at Ballywhack Shack Cafe . If you have kind words to share, we love a great review on Google or Yelp or really, just to us.
