My passion for smoking meats developed years ago when I first witnessed our uncle, Leon (aka "Big Lee"), and his incredible skills on the smoker in the Mississippi Delta, Greenwood to be exact. But beyond his sheer talent, Uncle Leon had such a joy for cooking and, moreover, for sharing his amazing food with others. We lost Uncle Leon in October of 2012 and his passing has made me more conscious of not only how well I cook, but also how many people I share this gift with. He was an amazing man and he still inspires us today.

“These are the most tender ribs I’ve ever had!” 🔥

That’s a compliment we never take for granted.

This customer came in, tried our ribs, and had nothing but great things to say about how tender they were. Then he decided to take the experience home with him and grabbed a family meal for later.

That’s what we love about Big Lee’s. You can come in for a meal, find something you love, and leave with enough to share with the people at home.

He walked into Big Lee’s questioning why people were traveling from places as far away as Maine just to try our barbecue. 😂🔥

He wasn’t convinced.

So he decided to try the food for himself.

After trying the brisket and okra, he said they were great.

Then came the best part:

“I see why they came from Maine.”

That’s when you know the food made its own argument. 😂🔥

They waited two whole months before finally coming to try Big Lee’s… and I’d say the wait was worth it based on their reactions. 😂🔥

A husband and wife from Lakeland made the trip, with the wife ordering our ribs and her husband going with The Deacon.

When I checked in with them afterward, the husband said his food was perfect.

His wife? She was raving about how amazing hers was.

Those reactions said everything.

A family drove from Jacksonville to Big Lee’s, and they had some BIG things to say about their experience. 👀🔥

According to her, our barbecue tops any BBQ restaurant in Jacksonville.

But what really stood out to her was more than just the food.

A dad and son from Gainesville saw Big Lee’s on social media and decided it was time to come try our barbecue. 🔥

They told us they’re familiar with Texas BBQ, so they came in ready to see what our barbecue was all about.

After they finished eating, I stopped by their table to check on them.

One of them told me he would definitely be back because he “killed everything” on his plate. 😂🔥

Some of the best feedback comes from simply asking our customers how their experience was. ❤️

Most of the people in this video were new customers who came to Big Lee’s to try our food for the first time, and they had some great things to say.

Then we heard from customers who had visited us before.

Their feedback focused on something just as important to us as the food: our customer service and hospitality.

We want every person who walks through our doors to feel welcomed, appreciated, and taken care of.

She’s been living in Ocala for 8 years, and after trying our Birria Tacos, she had a pretty strong statement. 👀🔥

“Those are the best tacos I’ve ever had.”

Wow.

This couple originally found us on TikTok and decided to come see what Big Lee’s was all about.

They gave the Birria Tacos a try, and just like that, they discovered what she called the best tacos she’s had in her 8 years living in Ocala. 🌮🔥

We hear that one pretty often. 😂

But after this customer sampled Big Lee’s Tea, his mind completely changed.

And the compliments didn’t stop there.

Are doctors recommending Big Lee’s now? 😂🔥

This customer told us all he did was ask:

“Where is a good lunch spot?”

And Big Lee’s was the recommendation he got.

He took their advice and came through to try us for himself. 👀

We love hearing how people discover Big Lee’s, but getting recommended when someone is simply looking for a good place to eat is a pretty cool feeling.

Maybe we need to start asking our customers who sent them our way. 😂

One of them had been seeing Big Lee’s online and kept telling the other one, “We need to check this place out.” 👀🔥

So they made the trip from Crystal River and came to see what we were about.

After ordering, they ended up back at the register, and one of them had to let us know the food was really awesome.

The other?

Already looking to get something to go. 😂

That’s when you know the experience left an impression.
