We are switching from Food Fact Thursday to Food Fact Fridays!!!

🔥 FOOD FACT FRIDAY 🔥

🥩 Why do chefs let meat REST before cutting into it?

No, it’s not tired. 😂

When meat cooks, heat causes its juices to move toward the center. If you slice into that steak, pork chop, or chicken breast the second it comes off the heat, more of those juices can end up running onto your cutting board instead of staying with your food.

Giving meat a few minutes to rest allows the temperature and moisture inside to redistribute, so you lose less juice when you finally make that first cut.

🔪 Cut too soon: More juice on the cutting board.

⏰ Let it rest: Better moisture retention and a juicier bite.

And here’s another chef trick: meat can continue to rise in temperature slightly after it’s removed from the heat. That’s called carryover cooking, which is why timing matters when you’re trying to cook meat perfectly.

So next time that steak comes off the grill and you’re tempted to immediately cut into it…

LEAVE. IT. ALONE. 😂🥩

🔥 Food Fact Friday:
Good things come to those who wait—and apparently, so does juicier meat.

We missed a week so here’s a good one!!

🔥 FOOD FACT THURSDAY 🔥

🌡️ Do you know if your refrigerator is actually cold enough?

Keeping food at the right temperature isn’t just about keeping it fresh—it’s an important part of keeping it safe to eat.

According to food-safety guidelines:

❄️ Refrigerator: 40°F or below
🧊 Freezer: 0°F or below
⚠️ Danger Zone: 40°F–140°F

Why is it called the Danger Zone? Because bacteria can multiply rapidly when perishable foods sit within that temperature range.

And here’s another number worth remembering: 2 HOURS. ⏰

Perishable foods generally shouldn’t sit at room temperature for more than 2 hours—or 1 hour when the temperature is above 90°F. Yes, Florida, we’re looking at you. 👀☀️

A simple tip? Keep an appliance thermometer in your refrigerator. The little temperature dial inside doesn’t always tell you the actual temperature.

🔥 Food Fact Thursday:
Keep cold food cold, hot food hot, and don’t let dinner hang out in the Danger Zone!

Food Fact Thursday: Why Meal Prep Reduces Food Waste

Did you know that meal prep can actually help reduce food waste?

Think about how many times you’ve bought a whole bag of spinach because a recipe needed one cup… used half an onion… or had great intentions for those vegetables hiding in the back of the fridge. 🥬😂

Meal prep reduces waste because ingredients are planned, portioned, and used intentionally. Instead of buying more food than you need and hoping you use it before it goes bad, you’re getting the right amount of food for the meals you’re actually going to eat.

At The Fiery Chef, we plan our menus, purchase ingredients based on what we’re preparing, and portion our meals—meaning less unnecessary food ends up in the trash.

And when you buy our ready-to-eat meals, you’re only taking home what you need. No leftover ingredients, no science experiments growing in the vegetable drawer, and no throwing away that cilantro you swore you were going to use. 🌿😂

Food Fact Thursday: Meal prep doesn’t just save you time—it can help save food, too.

And your refrigerator will thank you.
