Excerpted message from Kirinās Mom and Dad:
We are heartbroken to say that Kirin, our youngest son, has suddenly and tragically departed from this life. We are absolutely devastated, and ask that you keep our beautiful boy in your hearts and prayers.
He was full of life with so many gifts, and so much promise. He was an amazing and fearless educator, musician, chef, social activist, gatherer, nurturer, animal lover, and an intentional and respectful traveler. He cared deeply about his family, friends, community, and many social justice causes he proactively championed and wrote about with precision, eloquence, and heart. He had only just completed his Ph.D. last month, and was about to begin his dream job as a Professor of Ethnic Studies, tenure track, at a nearby college. There was so much more but this is the essence of him, through our eyes, and how we hope he will be remembered. Bharath and I, along with his older brother Krish, are now lost in a world without him.
May his gentle spirit be wrapped in divine light, exposed only to the highest anc most benevolent vibration, and completely surrounded and healed by the unconditional love he so deserved and longed for. May he be completely protected by the impenetrable armor of God. Please hug the children in your life, and try to emanate kindness in the world, as much as possible. Love is truly all that matters.

If you attended the Grand Opening for Cafe Santana on Saturday, February 28th, you probably enjoyed the vibrant music of SomosantifasĆ³n, a Son Jarocho musical group with Kirin and fellow musicians that helped complete this celebration. We want to express our humble appreciation to Somosantisfason, for blessing our new spot. Your music is magic and Kirinās spirit will forever be present here in our cafe among neighbors, fellow artists, teachers, social activists, and all who who enjoy to convivir, enjoy some cafecito, and be together with love, kindness and respect.
