Guest Chef

Guest Chef "Come to eat or come to cook!" THE IDEA

Guest Chef is a fully equipped restaurant and kitchen incubator. Our dishwasher will keep things tidy.

If you have a specialty dish, a novel cuisine, or an experimental take on a classic, come and showcase your culinary skills to an audience of eager diners. Schedule your two week run and Guest Chef will become YOUR restaurant. THE SPOT

Guest Chef seats 19-20 diners and also offers take-out counter service. Set on College Avenue in the bustling Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland, we provide all th

e basic equipment you need, from stove and fryers to plates and serving utensils. Our cashier will handle payments and beverages including beer and wine. And our sound system let’s you bring the music that sets the dining mood. HOW IT WORKS

This truly is a risk-free way for you to have your own restaurant for two weeks. You bring your enthusiasm and the raw materials for your cuisine — everything else is provided. Once you have reserved your dates, you will have a full day to get oriented, get prepped, and get ready to shine! Your appearance will be featured on our web site and promoted using social media. Expand the buzz by getting the word out through your networks as well. In exchange for all of those benefits, you simply contribute a percentage of your food receipts. Plus, if you are a success, we will have you back for an encore. If you are a sensation, we will work with you to open in a permanent location.

Kevin and I went to Guest Chef last night to go through the food & wine pairing before it opened last night.

Oh my God!! It was fantastic!!
6 delectable courses paired perfectly with the R&B wines.

Stand-out courses: The Mac and Cheese Ball (wrapped around pulled pork, with Panko bread crumbs and deep fried) - which was stunning with our 2012 Swingsville Zin.

BBQ Spare Ribs with our Napa "Zydeco" Zin. The ribs were cooked "sous vide" for 15 hours - which means they were vacuum sealed in plastic and slow-cooked in a water bath for 12 hours, then smoked over cherry wood and glazed with a Zinfandel BBQ sauce. Served with a Zucchini and corn roulade ball. Scrumptious!!!!

Top off your meal with a delectable chocolate flan drizzled with caramel sauce - paired with our 06 Reserve Cab. Um, um, um!!!

So, go to Guest Chef! 5337 College Ave. in the Rockridge section of Oakland.

We will be there until the 21st. Reservations are recommended as the space is very limited. 510-658-7378
