Dear Community,

We are heartbroken to share that the violence in Oakland last week affected our community in a very direct and painful way. The beloved father of two of our longtime community members was tragically taken from us.

We know our restaurant is more than a place to eat. It is a place to gather, connect, and build family. In order to care for our staff and families during this difficult time, we will have updated hours this week.

Our hearts are with everyone directly affected by this violence and with our greater Oakland community.

Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and continued support. ❤️

Grateful to be returning to Rancho La Puerta this weekend with my dear friend Gloria Dominguez for a co-teaching week at the beautiful La Cocina Que Canta; where we get to cook straight from the farm at the base of the sacred Mt Kuchumaa in Tecate.

To be able to teach in this kitchen and share my love of both land and place, and my intuitive cooking style is a dream. And to do it with Gloria Dominguez and her daughter tal palo is even better.

Chef Gloria and I will be also cooking a beautiful farm dinner on one of the evenings - if you happen to be there too, please join us.
