Hello everyone,

First of all we want to apologize for not having communicated much to you all over the course of the last year. Secondly, we would like to thank you all for you support of Mom and our family over the course of the last 3 decades.

As a family we have decided that we will not be returning to Garden House. We have taken this last year and a bit prioritizing our health and family. We have been weighing out the cost of safety, the cost of goods and the cost of time and it seems to us that continuing on may be too difficult to manage and is not as worthwhile as we had hoped.

In this time away Mom has landed herself her dream job and has been fully immersed in that. She now has a little “mini-me” that she spends a lot of her time with. He’s grandma’s #1 fan.

We’ll see you around town!

GARDEN HOUSE is back! Our first day will be Tuesday, Oct 15th.

Our regular hours will be:
Monday - Friday: 11am to 3pm.

This is our 28th year as a business in Downtown Oakland. It’s been a grueling 2.5 years of battling with contractors and permitting but we’re relieved to be back. We hope to see you soon!

We’re still waiting to finalize some permitting but it’s looking good. All our equipment and furniture has been moved in and waiting to be put in place.

Hello to our loving community,

With some excitement we want to let you know that we see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our last bit of construction has been scheduled out and if all our inspections go well, we should be up and running by the end of March.

It’s has been a tough two years, something that I’m sure could easily wreck a small business. We’re blessed to have a strong family that has never given up on this dream and one another.

Hello everyone,

Sorry it took so long for an update. WE ARE COMING BACK! We have signed a multi year lease so, the space is still ours for some years. We have had a heartbreaking number of setbacks due to an uncooperative contractor and are trying to push through as best we can.

We thank you for supporting us and for being concerned. Please understand that we are in a terrible predicament. This is our livelihood and through all of this we are still paying rent on a space we cannot use. We are in a horrible position so please be kind when you send us messages. Telling us to “hurry up” doesn’t help anyone. We are trying.

Hello everyone!

We hope you’re doing well. We have more not so great news that we’ve been trying to cope with the last few weeks. It seems the contractor that is working on our project has made some grave errors that have pushed our opening back even further.

This has been stressful and heart breaking to say the least. It hasn’t been easy for us to be away from our home for just about a year now.

The reality is that we were supposed to reopen months ago but with these old buildings it’s hard to know what you’ll unearth. The rest of our building has been completed, in part because no new electrical, plumbing and gas had to be brought in.

Please be patient with us. We’ve hired a new project manager that is Hell-bent on getting this project complete this summer.
