Today on this day… 16 years ago. I started . I was the dishwasher, barista, sandwichmaker, marketer and the cleanup crew for almost 9 months. There were days, months that i didn’t know how i can make it. But people from community kept on showing up… And every i kept showing up… Those days and care have added up to 16 years. What a ride…
Folks who know me and had the experience working with me knows that one of my favorite tasks is to cut tomatoes in the early morning… This has been one of the most pleasurable things i do . There is a ritual/ honoring/interaction of both the natural shape of the tomato and the natural function of a knife that makes/ made me ready for the days to come… thank you for letting us be a part of the Oakland Landscape for 16 years!!! We are grateful and proud to be a part of 💜🙏🏽💜🙏🏽

We uplift story, was an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), sending over 80% of his income to his family back home and supporting his niece’s education to become a nurse. He was a member of PAWIS (Philippine
Association of Workers and
Immigrants) and a caregiver working to save up for his heart surgery. He died on Wednesday, February 25. During the week he passed away, he worked all seven days. Wednesday was supposed to be his day off after working 6 days in a row, but he covered his coworker’s shift. He is the 8th PAWIS member to die within the past five years, specifically from health conditions made worse in the work place.

We demand the Philippine Consulate to release the Assistance to National Fund for Kuya Rodel’s Family and for his Repatriation.
