A real “pro” walks into the diner, hat pulled low, and proceeds to feast. He eats and drinks, racking up a $50 tab. After finishing, he heads to the restroom and camps out for ten minutes—long enough for the staff to lose track of him and forget he hasn’t paid.
He eventually comes out and heads to the register, but not to settle the bill. Instead, he tries to buy a single cookie. When he taps his phone to pay, the transaction declines; apparently, he doesn’t even have $3 to his name.
With a straight face, he tells the cashier he needs to grab a credit card from his car to cover the cookie. He never mentions the $50 dinner tab, which he likely shoved in his pocket or flushed down the toilet. He strolls out to the parking lot, and hid in the parking lot.

Be on the lookout! This individual is targeting local establishments with this specific dine-and-dash scheme. He may end up at your place next, so keep an eye on anyone matching this “pro” behavior.
