Our July fundraiser for Providence NICU hits close to home here at Oak Harbor 💜💛

Kendra 's daughter Morgan spent a total of 9 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Morgan was growth restricted in uterus and born at 4 lbs 6 oz. The doctors put her on a feeding schedule to help get her weight up. Being so small, it was harder for her to regulate her own blood oxygen levels and had to be put on high flow oxygen for a few days.

Kendra spent more time crib side than in her postpartum room. The care every single nurse put into each baby is incredible. Every 3 hours each nurse would do a "care session" on each baby. This time included giving any medications or completing test, feeding, and changing diapers. The nurses were always communicating and teaching parents as they completed tasks, and one even made sure Kendra could be present for Morgan's first bath.

The technology that each baby station has is top notch (and incredibly expensive). A newer isolette (infant incubator) can cost anywhere from $30k - $70k just to give you an idea. The NICU wing also has stay in rooms that parents who live long distances can stay in to save on hotel expenses.

Your daily round up donations, July Special drink purchases, and a portion of every reusable cup sold will be used by Providence to continue to upgrade as needed to keep the tiniest fighters alive. Kendra and Jerrod are so thankful Morgan's stay was only 9 days, some babies have stays up to 150+ days, depending on their circumstances.
