Meet Elaina Flowers, the woman behind our Organic Long-Fermented Sourdough at Tillery Farm Store and owner of ‘Flowers Fermented Flours’. 🍞
“As someone who grew up in a gluten free household, I took to baking at a pretty early age simply because I liked eating dessert. Throughout highschool and into college, baking became a source of stress relief and I started experimenting with more complex recipes. In college, studying microbiology sparked my interest in fermentation and sourdough. By my junior year of college, I was baking bread every week and dreaming of a slower life away from the stress of academia. After I became a mother I realized it was more than just a hobby for me, and while I loved every minute of being a mom, I longed for something that was my own. I found myself dreaming of starting a sourdough microbakery, so one day, I put out a post on Facebook and… nothing happened for a month. I started getting an order every once in a while, but was still feeling pretty discouraged. When Kaylie messaged me asking if I was interested in the possibility of becoming a vendor for her farm store, I jumped at the opportunity and haven’t looked back. Thanks to her efforts at Tillery Farm Store, I was able to make my dream a reality and help support my family while doing something I love. I am so thankful for this opportunity and those who have supported me on this journey namely my husband, family, and Kaylie. I am also so grateful to everyone who has supported me by buying my bread and showing me that all the hard work is worth it.” -Elaina
