Christian music pioneer Phil Keaggy says his decision to put faith ahead of mainstream success likely limited how famous he became, but more than five decades later, he believes he made the right choice. Keaggy said he was no longer chasing celebrity and instead wanted to use his music to share the gospel.

That same priority shaped his family life. After a five-week overseas tour while his son was just four months old, Keaggy decided to scale back touring so he could come home, be with his children and “tuck my kids in.” He acknowledged that the choice disappointed booking agents and record companies and may have hurt record sales.

Now 75, Keaggy says he would not change the path he took. “I think I made the right decision,” he said. “No regrets.” Looking back, he credits God’s guidance, saying faith means acknowledging the Lord in everything and trusting Him to “direct your steps.”
