Well, I thought I had him convinced, but David’s on his way to the University of Toledo this week. The only one cool enough to put on the Corn Costume, the only one that takes out the garbage and who absolutely crushed “green board” every weekend for the last two years. I’d like to take credit, but listening to him training the new crew, I think Logan put more fear in him than I ever did…wish the young man luck, Ridgeville! These “kids” do you proud!

With the influx of pre-ordering requests for large parties, we’re testing out some new functionality on our website (SmashPizzaKitchen.com). I’ve tried to accommodate the deliveries myself, but now it’s getting a little too much, and I don’t want to drop the ball on anyone’s big day. So you SHOULD be able to pre-order pickup OR delivery up to 14 days in advance. PLEASE double check your confirmations to make sure you’ve got the right dates. For any preorder I’m going to try to text a follow up confirmation acknowledgment myself but I can’t always promise I’ll be able to. I’ve been in customer service since I was eight years old. I was lucky enough to be born into a family business. I saw my mom and dad, day in and day out. I worked along my sisters for years. It’s hard to imagine not having that relationship with your family. Not just the obligatory one, but the one that comes from leaning on each other. Having to count on each other. Trying to take care of other people. We had to be a team. Had to get things done. Every once in a while, the staff dynamic changes here. And it’s one of the perks watching the evolution of a new team coming together. Hopefully. It’s stressful, but it is a perk. We’ve been slow this week. Back to school. Back to college. The county fair? You look for every excuse in the book. Summers over. I’m overstaffed. Trying to let the old guard teach the new guard before they go. You want to transmit all that information into their heads as fast as possible. You live and die by the numbers. Every week. Every month. Are they going to know about $20 Roy? Are they going to know the Houcks get a Dilly Dilly and check the expiration on the 20ozs before they go? 50/50 Rob has certain privileges. Paul usually gets a small dilly, but sometimes he gets a large. What are Mark and Judy getting this week? GFF Frank has his order. Literally, a thousand other regulars. What’s the humidity today? Do we cover the dough or leave it out? Open windows or no? And don’t even get me started on taking orders over the phone. The questions….

So when it’s slow, you die inside. Oh no. It’s all falling apart. But then you hear them talking. What music do you like? What classes are you taking? Isn’t Jenso so annoying? And you realize they need that too.

Summers winding down. It’s been insane. Thank you guys. We’re gearing up for fall. Smash 4.0. Same as every year, but if you’re not losing your mind, then you’re not running a business. Let’s get ready for war, as Mia likes to say.

Apparently we cleaned out an entire warehouse’s stock of cauliflower crusts in the last month…I’m on the hunt, but currently no GF crust available! Sorry guys (and especially Gluten Free Frank! Mia’s gonna be sad if she doesn’t get to see you this weekend).
